Why is the earth pin of the three pin plus is longer and thicker than other two for phase and neutral?

Because we are using a heavy load mechinery in a3 pin socket and we desigen it for a heavy load ,inplace of a2 pin socket.

The larger the surface area, the less will be the resistance offered to the current. The pin is made longer and thicker so that the maximum amount of current flows to the earth.
