An increasing pipeline of renewables, decommissioning and subsea oil and gas projects is driving growth. The ever-increasing scale of offshore renewable projects and progress into deeper waters is driving innovation in our geosciences business. Geotechnical engineering is a critical part of the geoscience business stream and is a core technical competency area for our clients.
Role Purpose
To deliver geotechnical engineering analyses, consultancy and marine warranty surveying projects and assist with technical development in accordance with the quality management system. The geotechnical engineer in this role will have the opportunity to work on suite of offshore geotechnical projects with emphasis on renewable energy developments. We are looking for a graduate engineer or an engineer with some experience in geotechnical engineering to join our highly motivated team of geoscience experts with plentitude of training and knowledge transfer opportunities.
Duties and Responsibilities
Deliver engineering, MWS and other consultancy projects to meet quality and budget expectations Geotechnical and ground model data review and derivation of design soil parameters Perform different geotechnical analyses related to offshore foundations. Assessing geohazard risks for various offshore projects Assist in creating integrated ground models Perform foundation design and assessment for different infrastructures including Jack-ups, fixed and floating wind turbine generators Under guidance, perform advanced numerical modelling using Finite Element Method Assist in geotechnical earthquake engineering assessments Prepare reports and document reviews Provide advice and support to colleagues and attend client sites to participate in meetings Assist in projects to improve our capability and competitiveness, including assisting in the improvement and up-keep of engineering software and analysis tools Assist in the marketing of Global Maritime
Specific Skills, Knowledge and Experience required
A degree in Civil Engineering, with Geotechnical related subjects Fundamental understanding of soil mechanics and geotechnical engineering principals Post graduate degrees and work experience in offshore geotechnical engineering are an advantage Working ability in a range of engineering analysis tools Excellent Microsoft Office skills Excellent report writing and presentation skills
