Your role and responsibilities

We are seeking a Software Development Manager to lead a software engineering team delivering enterprise application modernization solutions on IBM Z and LinuxONE. The role involves owning end-to-end development, validation, automation and maintenance of platform components that help modernize mission-critical applications using AI, while embedding strong SRE and support practices. You will drive cloud SRE principles such as reliability, availability, observability, and automation, ensure production readiness, and lead incident management, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement. The role also includes building a robust support model (L2/L3 readiness, monitoring, and self-healing capabilities) and collaborating closely with product management, engineering teams, and customer stakeholders to ensure high product quality, seamless integration, and an excellent user and operational experience aligned with modern cloud operations.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

* Lead and manage developing, validating, and maintaining software products through the complete agile software development cycle
* Collaborate with extended development management teams to identify, prioritize, evaluate, and deliver optimized solutions
* Work closely with Product management, and design teams as well as customers adopting the modernized and strategic solutions for IBM Z System
* Identify and track project milestones
* Present clear and concise status to leadership
* Continuously grow the skills and experiences of the team
* Supporting customer issues within timelines.
* Leading and Managing Engineers with the deliverables and career aspirations

Required technical and professional expertise

* 12+ years of experience in IT, including 5+ years in software development management, delivering enterprise-grade solutions with a strong focus on SRE, cloud operations, and support excellence
* Proven experience in software release management, ensuring smooth, reliable, and production-ready deployments aligned with operational SLAs/SLOs
* Hands-on leadership in Agile methodologies, driving DevOps and SRE culture with emphasis on automation, reliability, and continuous delivery
* Strong technical and program management skills with the ability to manage complex, mission-critical workloads and modernization initiatives
* Solid understanding of enterprise development practices combined with observability, incident management, and production support models (L2/L3)
* Excellent communication, leadership, analytical thinking, and prioritization skills to manage stakeholders and drive outcomes
* Ability to foster a culture of continuous engineering and operational improvement through mentoring, feedback, metrics, and SRE-driven performance insights

Preferred technical and professional experience

* 12+ years of experience in software development, building and delivering enterprise-grade systems with a strong focus on cloud SRE practices, reliability, and supportability
* 5+ years of experience in software product release management, ensuring stable, production-ready deployments aligned with SLA/SLO-driven support models
* Experience in content and solution development, contributing to scalable, reusable components and modernization initiatives
* Hands-on experience with open-source software development and governance, enabling collaborative and innovation-driven engineering practices
* Working knowledge of IBM Z systems, LinuxONE environments, and associated operating systems and middleware
* Strong proficiency in modern DevOps and SRE toolchains including JIRA, Jenkins, Ansible, ServiceNow, Salesforce CSP, Git, and related automation frameworks
* Knowledge of Red Hat ecosystem and hybrid cloud capabilities, supporting cloud-native and platform engineering approaches
* Experience in designing and building resilient, scalable systems with emphasis on observability, automation, and high availability
* Demonstrated ability to lead cross-site teams and drive organizational alignment, ensuring effective delivery, operations, and support outcomes
