Quantity Surveyor – Electrical Location: Bahrain Division & Department: Precontract & Technical Services Role Summary The Quantity Surveyor – Electrical is responsible for providing technical and commercial support during the pre-contract tendering stage.
The role involves preparing accurate quantity take-offs for electrical systems, coordinating supplier and subcontractor enquiries, and supporting the preparation of competitive and compliant tender submissions.
The successful candidate will work closely with the estimation team to ensure accurate costing, timely procurement inputs, and high-quality tender documentation.
Key Responsibilities Perform detailed quantity take-offs and measurements from tender drawings, specifications, and related documents for electrical systems.
Prepare and issue Requests for Quotation (RFQs) to suppliers and subcontractors for electrical works.
Follow up with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain timely and competitive quotations.
Review and evaluate quotations to ensure compliance with project specifications and tender requirements.
Assist in the preparation and updating of Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and cost estimates.
Support the Senior Electrical Estimator in preparing tender submissions and pricing proposals.
Review tender drawings and identify discrepancies, omissions, or design conflicts.
Prepare Requests for Information (RFIs) and coordinate technical clarifications with consultants and clients.
Attend site visits when required to assess project conditions and electrical installation requirements.
Maintain accurate records of quantity take-offs, quotations, and tender documentation.
Utilize AutoCAD, PlanSwift/Bluebeam, and Microsoft Excel effectively to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
Collaborate with internal teams to meet tender submission deadlines and project requirements.
Qualifications & Skills Bachelor’s Degree, Diploma, or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering.
Minimum 2 years of experience in Electrical Quantity Surveying, Estimation, or Tendering within the construction or MEP industry.
Proficiency in AutoCAD for technical drawing interpretation and quantity take-offs.
Experience using PlanSwift and/or Bluebeam for measurement and estimation tasks.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for BOQ preparation and cost analysis.
Strong understanding of electrical systems and construction drawings.
Ability to interpret specifications, BOQs, and technical documents accurately.
Strong analytical and numerical skills with high attention to detail.
Good communication and coordination skills with internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight tender deadlines.
Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
Team-oriented mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
