The Bayt.com Job Seeker Confidence Index 2018

Having a sense of how financially comfortable job seekers are and whether or not they believe that the economic situation of their countries will improve, can certainly give an insight on how the economy is performing. Do job seekers expect their financial situation to improve, or are they quite pessimistic? Do they believe that the costs of living might rise? Likewise, how job seekers feel about the job market and business condition can be revealing about the current and future hiring landscape.

Bayt.com surveyed thousands of jobseekers from different parts of the MENA region to identify the current trends in the job market, determine jobseekers’ perceptions and attitudes regarding their economies, and gain an understanding to their current financial situation. Find out the answers below.

Key findings:

 

  • Overall,36% of respondents expect their financial condition to improve in the next6 months.
  • The GCC countries where expectation to improve is higher include UAE (60%), Bahrain (56%) and Kuwait (55%).
  • Those living in the GCC and especially residents of Oman (74%) and UAE (66%) are optimistic about their country’s future economy.
  • 37% claim that they are satisfied with the career growth opportunities in their current job.

 

Data for Bayt.com Job Seeker Confidence Index Survey2018 was collected online from29th July to27th August2018. Results are based on a sample of3078 respondents from the following countries: UAE, KSA, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Palestine, Syria, Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Sudan, and Pakistan.
