Bayt.com Poll: Health and Wellbeing in the MENA 2018

Employers can play an important role in their employee’s general health and well-being. They can also create awareness and promote self-care in terms of supporting a healthy diet, limiting smoking, and encouraging regular exercise and much more. That said, are employers nowadays succeeding at that? What do employees expect in return? Check out what the Bayt.com poll revealed below.

Key highlights:

  • Nearly 7 in10 respondents place greater value on health insurance compared to a higher salary.
  • More than 9 in10 respondents say employers are responsible to promote health and wellbeing at work.
  • 57.9% of MENA workplaces permit smoking on the premises, and19.7% have designated smoking area.
  • 95.4% of respondents say they would exercise more often if their workplace had a gym or offered subsidized gym memberships.
  • Results highlighted that employers can help reduce stress and develop a culture that fosters a healthy mindset in the workplace through dedicating more time and resources to physical activity (71.1%).

Data for the2018 Health and Wellbeing in the MENA poll was collected online from August2,2018 to September23,2018. Results are based on a sample of9,810 respondents from countries including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Palestine, Syria, Yemen, Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya and Sudan among others.
