Learn about American Mission Hospital

About American Mission Hospital

American Mission Hospital has been serving the medical and dental requirements of the Kingdom of Bahrain since 1892, when the first missionaries from the Reformed Church in America arrived to establish a presence in Arabia. In 1903, American Mission Hospital became the first, purpose built medical establishment in the Middle East. Unique in being the only not-for-profit hospital in Bahrain, our niche is the provision of high quality, affordable services for those members of the community who prefer private healthcare. The predominant activity of American Mission Hospital is outpatient care; averaging over 450 visits per day. We have 40 inpatient beds but currently no special care units. Most lab tests, ultrasound and x-ray studies are performed in-house. MRI & CT procedures are handled by another hospital with whom we have a direct referral arrangement. In October 2000, we opened our first satellite medical & dental centre; thus enabling the AMH to provide a more convenient & accessible service to the community. We plan to continue expanding our present services & adding new areas of service as demand develops.
