About Commercial International Bank

The Commercial International Bank was established in 1975 as a joint venture between the National Bank of Egypt (51%) and the Chase Manhattan Bank (49%) under its original name 'Chase National Bank of Egypt'. Following Chase's decision to divest its equity stake in 1987, National Bank of Egypt increased its shareholding to 99.9%, and the Bank changed its name to Commercial International Bank (Egypt) S.A.E. More recently, a group of American investor organizations, headed by Ripplewood Holdings L.L.C have acquired an 18.7% stake in CIB, after thoroughly investigating the local banking industry. Along with our new partners, and through the contribution and dedication of our professional workforce, we will continue to work towards building on the successful CIB brand and business established. Over the last few years, CIB had stakes in some strategic subsidiaries, offering through it some of its financial products and services specialized in securities brokerage through Commercial International Brokerage Company (CIBC) in 1998, life insurance and contractor savings through Commercial International Life Insurance (CIL) in 2000, car finance through CONTACT Car Trading Company in 2001, financial leasing through CorpLease, and fund and portfolio management through Commercial International Asset Management (CIAM) in 2004.
