Established in 1956 by two brothers keen to leave their impact on the Emirati market, Omeir Bin Youssef Group first started out as Khalifa and Omeir Travel Agency and was home to a modest four employees. The company’s first business forays spanned the travel industry with services such as booking, airline representation, cargo handling and airport ground-handling services. By 1967, the company had set on its path to expansion, acquiring British Petroleum and becoming sole distributors of brands such as Rothmans, Palmolive and Colgate. In 1971, Mr. Khalifa Bin Youssef passed away and Omeir Bin Youssef Group was officially founded. While the circumstances were unfortunate, the group had a new energy to it and by 1976, OBY had over 100 employees under their helm. Over the course of the next few years, OBY would go on to successfully venture into automotive services and real estate. Currently, the company counts commercial and residential real estate development as one of its specialties. In parallel, the company continues to sponsor internationally acclaimed companies in Abu Dhabi such as ABB.
