SHUJABAD Agro Industries (Pvt) Ltd was established in the year 2000 as the first Solvent Extraction Plant at PORT QASIM, Karachi. At the time; Karachi, with one-tenth of the country’s population and home of the country’s major cooking oil producers, was getting all of its requirements for oil and meal, the two main products of the solvent industry, catered by the solvent plants located in Punjab. With the added advantage of saving on upcountry freight for an industry that is dependent on imported seeds, the company quickly grew to become one of the leading importer and crusher of oilseeds in the country, and doubled its production capacity quickly in 2002. The company processed about 54,000 MT of oilseeds in the financial year ending June 2004, producing about 22,000 MT of soft oil and 30,000 MT of meal. Continuing on the path of growth, and realizing the gap in supply of quality cooking oil in the country, the company is now planning to extend its operations into production of cooking oil. To achieve the highest quality that matches the standards of any of the developed countries of the world, use of latest machinery with proven technology has been planned. For this upcoming project, the company intends to hire a team of people having experience in the relevant industry.
