Groupe MEPA was founded 26 years ago in 1976 by Henri Chalhoub, recipient of the Ordre du Merite of France in 1982. The Group started as the largest Representation and Underwriting agency network for the I'Union des Assurances de Paris. This insurance company was established in 1899, owned by the French State and was the number one insurance company in France at the time. Today, MEPA is still privately owned, operating in 9 countries; around the Mediterranean basin, the Arab Gulf, Europe and North America; through a network of 25 offices. While the Group remains focused on its core activity of insurance and reinsurance, its operations go further than the one encountered in traditional insurance. MEPA controls and runs underwriting management agencies, insurance and reinsurance brokers and service companies. Each entity operates autonomously, with its own management and under its own name and banner. The total annual premiums in force managed by the Group are in excess of four hundred and fifty million US dollars USD 450 000 000.
