From its origins in 1981 as a vocational training centre, Yanbu Industrial College has evolved into a full-fledged Industrial College. The college’s main purpose is to provide young Saudis with a high-quality, job-oriented education to prepare them for jobs in industry and business. In meeting this aim, the college has become a leading supplier of trained manpower for Yanbu’s industries and for other private and public-sector employers throughout Saudi Arabia. Yanbu Industrial College, completed in 1987, is located at the southern tip of the community area near the port and primary industries, on the Red Sea coast some 350 kilometers northwest of Jeddah. The campus covers 62 hectares. Facilities – for up to 1,500 boarders and an additional another 500 external students – include a training centre, administration building, library, auditorium, and student centre. Recreational events are staged at the fully equipped sports facility in the northeast corner of the site. This complex includes a gymnasium, swimming and diving pools, and a stadium with concrete grandstands, artificial-turf football field, and rubberized running track. The College’s Program in Industrial Management Technology is now fully Accredited by the American Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) and all the academic activities conducted in it must meet these standards. The other departments of the College are currently undergoing the process of gaining Accreditation from Accredited Board for Engineering & Technology (ABET).
