As an Automation Engineer you will design and develop software for features that are required for Autonomous Drills System (ADS) collaborating along with senior engineers to ensure the internal and external program requirements and needs are met.




Required Technical Skills:



  • Strong hands-on C++ experience for embedded development.
  • Development experience on Embedded Linux.
  • Understanding of embedded systems, concurrency, and performance.
  • Experience with design reviews, code reviews, and technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with sensors and positioning technologies (GNSS, IMU, laser, optical).
  • Strong Git, CI/CD, and modern software practices.
  • Exposure to Angular and TypeScript (nice to have).
  • Bachelor’s or master’s in computer science, Electronics, or related field.
  • 3+ years of software development experience.
  • This position requires working onsite five days a week.

Domain / System Understanding (Preferred)



  • System-level understanding of Caterpillar machines.
  • Experience with machine control, robotics, or guidance systems.
  • Knowledge of industrial safety and field deployment.

•    Requires a degree in an accredited Engineering. Four-year bachelor’s degree, preferably in computer science, information systems, communications, engineering, or related field.




Role Definition:



Assists in the design, definition, development, and test of the Autonomous Drills System (ADS) Application software development using C++ programming language on Linux Platform.




Responsibilities:



•    Participating in design and development of application software and algorithms for Machine Autonomy Applications.



•    Documenting architecture specifications, software design description, verification plans, test cases, operating procedures, and safety procedures.



•    Utilizing appropriate tools to debug, test and maintain software and hardware systems of Autonomy Applications, assisting in the verification and validation process.
