Summary:
As an AWS-focused Cloud Engineer, you are responsible for designing, implementing, and operating secure, scalable, and reliable AWS cloud environments within the cloud landing zone and wider infrastructure ecosystem. You provide technical leadership, ensure adherence to cloud best practices, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize cloud operations, cost efficiency and compliance.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Design, build, and maintain AWS cloud environments that meet organizational requirements for scalability, performance, reliability, and security.
Architect AWS-based solutions using services such asEC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, RDS/Aurora, API Gateway, S3, Cloud Front, and advanced networking components.
Implement AWS security and compliance controls, including IAM, SCPs, KMS, encryption, Secrets Manager, CloudTrail, Guard Duty, and AWS Organizations governance.
Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform to enable automated, consistent, and repeatable environment provisioning.
Optimize cloud performance and cost by applying best practices for autoscaling, caching, right-sizing, tagging, and cost monitoring using AWS Cost Explorer/Budgets.
Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot AWS workloads using a centralized observability solution using the LGTMstack.
Support containerized and serverless workloads, including managing EKS clusters, ECS/Fargatedeployments, and Lambda-based architectures.
Lead incident response for cloud-related issues, ensuring timely resolution and root-cause analysis. Create and maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation for architectures, operational procedures, and cloud governance guidelines.
Collaborate with developers, architects, cybersecurity teams, and product owners to enable cloud-native solution delivery.
Professional & Technical Skills:
Expert-level knowledge of AWS and hands-on experience with core and advanced services (compute, networking, storage, IAM, container and serverless services, CI/CD, and monitoring).
Strong proficiency in Infrastructure as Code, primarily with Terraform/Terr grunt or Open Tofu
Scripting and automation experience in Python or Bash for orchestration, tooling, and operational automation.
Deep understanding of AWS networking, including VPC design, subnets, routing, NACLs, security groups, VPN/Direct Connect, private/hybrid connectivity, and network security patterns.
Cloud security expertise, including IAM design, least
privilege models, KMS, encryption strategies, compliance requirements, and vulnerability management on AWS.
Experience operating container platforms, such as Amazon EKS or ECS, including cluster design, networking, scaling, observability, and secure operation.
Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools, preferably Prometheus/Grafana but also CloudWatch,CloudTrail, X-Ray, or equivalent.
Solid troubleshooting and incident-management skills, including analysing logs, metrics, distributed systems, and multi-service AWS environments.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines (preferably GitLab CI, or AWS Code Pipeline/Code Build, GitHub Actions, or similar).
Strong documentation and communication skills in English.
