Overview of Role:

• Contribute to our Global computational engineering network with a focus on project delivery
• Champion computation engineering and automation within Buro Happold
• Responsible for upskilling staff by implementing workflows in a hands-on fashion, working side-by-side with the teams.
• This position is to drive Buro Happold’s approach to Computational Project Delivery at a discipline level.
• The primary goal of this role will be to strategically implement computational design on key projects in India in a way this is quantifiably low in risk and high in reward.
• To stay on top of the latest developments internally and externally in computational design, you will invest a portion of your time into R&D.  This will involve attending and presenting at conferences, exploring new and innovative uses for computational design as well as to develop products and services that are of value to existing or new BH clients. You will also collaborate with our Global Development team.
• The role is by definition discipline specific, thus requiring the individual to be able to solve problems using first-principles and computation. You ideally have a degree in in either Structural Engineering or MEP related degree.

 Required skills:

This role will require a mix of computational and engineering skills.  A strong candidate will have the following skills:

• BSc or MSc in Engineering (i.e. Structural, Mechanical or Electrical)
• Excellence in First-Principle engineering
• Experience to be 2-5 years in core discipline with Computational Design area and with relevant programming skills.
• Visual programming – must be able to work with and manipulate ‘deep’ and complex datatree structures.
• Must be able to break down large problems from various disciplines into their lowest common denominators (geometry and mathematics) to leverage the power of computational design, rather than focus on software.
• Text-Based programming– must have experience with working with Python, C# and object-oriented programming.  Must be proficient in Visual Studio and working wih Github. 
• Be able to demonstrate how you utilise computational design to solve project delivery bottlenecks in an effectively and efficiently
• Create and maintain scripts and workflows that are easily understood, debug, and not black box so as to empower engineers to safely multiply their skills using technology
• Advise on the best computational workflows for projects to streamline deliveries.
• Is able to mentor teams with low levels of computational skills to successful implementation of a computational workflow via inspiration, breaking tasks into manageable sizes, and liaising with regional development lead to foster necessary skills.
• Is able to communicate their methodology, teach and inspire those around them.
• Makes computational engineering exciting to engineers, clients, and other stakeholders via engaging innovative and confident presentation skills
• Excel, word, Visual Basic programming, grasshopper, python, Revit programme and dynamo
• Any practical experience across the domains of data science, data engineering and data analytics will be considered as an additional plus  

Responsibilities and Accountability: 

• Reports to the Buro Happold global Computational Leads and our Regional Director in India.
• Provided mentorship to our local project engineers and technicians.
• Act as main point of contact for with our wider distributed computational network
• Report back metrics of computational ROI’s to regional and larger global network
• Quantify barriers to successful computational workflow implementation and work with our Leadership teams to lower these barriers
• Liaises with Global and Regional Development Leads to assure a solid computational base in the region such as to further increase changes of computational success on regional projects
