Job Description:

The opportunity

Join our R&D Product Development team and help validate the next generation of power conversion and control systems. You will work in a cross-functional environment alongside design, control, embedded software, system engineering, and quality teams to ensure our products meet performance, reliability, and certification expectations.

In this role, you will validate hardware and control functions for power converters and energy storage applications. You will study system behavior under transient and fault conditions, support grid code compliance, and drive end-to-end traceability from requirements through to final validation reports. Your work directly shapes the robustness and certification readiness of products deployed in industrial and renewable energy applications.

To excel, you bring strong testing fundamentals, hands-on experience with HIL systems and lab benches, and the analytical mindset needed to debug signals, logs, and waveforms. You are structured in your documentation, curious about new technologies, and motivated to automate what others would repeat manually.

You will grow by working on real prototypes and productized systems, contributing to test automation frameworks, and collaborating with global engineering teams. You will deepen your expertise across power electronics, control algorithms, and grid compliance while building a strong foundation in certification and quality processes.

How you’ll make an impact

·Define, execute, and maintain validation and verification activities for power electronic products, prototypes, and systems under development.

·Analyze specifications and technical requirements and translate them into structured validation plans, test procedures, and acceptance criteria.

·Execute validation tests in both factory and field environments for prototype and productized power conversion systems.

·Study system stability and response to electrical transients including symmetrical and asymmetrical faults, voltage dips, frequency disturbances, and power oscillation damping scenarios.

·Simulate, validate, and debug control algorithms and assess compliance with applicable grid codes.

·Conduct technical analysis of logs, signals, errors, waveforms, and performance metrics, and generate clear, reusable validation reports.

·Develop and implement test automation frameworks and scripts for lab and HIL-based validation activities.

·Support product certification activities, component approval, and quality assurance processes, ensuring traceability from requirements to final reports.

·Responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

·Living Hitachi Energy’s core values of safety and integrity, which means taking responsibility for your own actions while caring for your colleagues and the business.

Your background

·Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Electronics, or a related engineering field.

·Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in power electronics, validation, verification, or related engineering activities.

·Experience in the design of electrical systems and power electronics converters, including their control.

·Strong experience in validation of electronic products and/or embedded software, with hands-on use of test benches, validation setups, and HIL systems.

·Strong knowledge of power converters, especially AC/DC and DC/DC converter topologies.

·Experience with simulation and modeling tools such as PSCAD, Simulink, or PLECS.

·Proven ability to perform technical analysis of system behavior, signals, and performance data, and to prepare structured validation documentation, reports, and traceability records.

·Self-driven, curious, and motivated to learn and apply new technologies.
