Design Evaluation Engineer

As part of the Post‑Silicon Engineering organization, you will be responsible for bench evaluation (validation) activities for new SoC product developments within the Digital Business Unit at Analog Devices. This role involves working closely with Design, Product Test Engineering (PTE), and Applications teams to drive the post‑silicon phase of product development, from first‑silicon bring‑up through full validation across Process, Voltage, and Temperature (PVT) corners.

The ideal candidate is technically strong, has hands‑on experience in digital and mixed‑signal validation, and demonstrates the ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional, global teams to ensure robust silicon validation, characterization, and production readiness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop innovative, reliable, and efficient bench hardware and software solutions for complex digital and mixed‑signal SoCs.
  • Drive the post‑silicon evaluation lifecycle, including hardware bring‑up, silicon bring‑up, functional validation, debug, and PVT characterization.
  • Develop, execute, and automate test scripts to support validation, debug, and characterization activities.
  • Engage early with Design teams to contribute to DFT definition and development, improving debug capability and overall testability.
  • Work in close collaboration with Product Engineering and Test Engineering teams to define, execute, and align on a comprehensive Silicon Characterization and Measurement (SCM) plan.
  • Schematic designs and review PCB layouts for evaluation boards to ensure robust validation coverage and debug accessibility.
  • Partner with Applications teams to define system‑level use cases for bench validation and customer‑focused testing.
  • Support correlation between bench evaluation results and production test data to enable smooth product ramp and release.

Qualifications & Experience

  • B.Tech/M.Tech degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering.
  • 0–2 years of hands‑on experience in high‑speed digital validation of MCUs (ARM Cortex), DSPs, and NPUs.
  • Strong experience in electrical compliance characterization and system validation of high‑speed interfaces such as DDR3, PCIe, CSI, USB, and HDMI.
  • Experience in characterization of precision analogue IPs including ADCs, DACs, and voltage references.
  • Working knowledge of validating communication protocols such as I²C, SPI, USB, and other serial interfaces.
  • Experience running system‑level performance benchmarks for power and speed across MCUs, DSPs, and NPUs.
  • Familiarity with embedded toolchains such as IAR, Keil, and similar development environments.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, C, C#, and VHDL/Verilog for automation, debug, and validation.
  • Hands‑on experience with bench instruments including oscilloscopes, Audio Precision systems, signal generators, and analyzers.
  • Proven ability to work closely with Design, Product Engineering, and Test Engineering teams to align evaluation, characterization, and production test strategies.
