Overview Job Purpose Statement The role is responsible for leading the Health, Safety, and Environmental (EHS) agenda for the PepsiCo India Operating Unit to meet internal and external benchmarks of excellence. It ensures that all products are manufactured in accordance with PepsiCo Environmental Standards, while effectively managing risks to employees and the environment in compliance with local legislation and PepsiCo minimum requirements. Responsibilities Key Accountabilities Serve as the India Region EHS subject matter expert, influencing and mentoring site-based resources Develop, implement, and maintain the local audit program, including self-assessments and tracking closure of corrective actions Develop and lead the EHS strategic plan for India Region, ensuring alignment with regional and global EHS strategies Leverage and deploy global EHS best practices across India operations Ensure compliance with GEHSMS standards across all India Region operations Provide ongoing leadership, guidance, and expertise on all health, safety, and environmental matters Lead and manage a team of direct and indirect reports to execute the EHS strategic agenda Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legal, regulatory, and PepsiCo EHS requirements; ensure business awareness of any changes Assess, identify, and mitigate environmental and safety risks; implement corrective and preventive measures Drive and embed a culture of environmental and safety responsibility across the organization Integrate EHS into the overall business and operational management framework Qualifications Key Metrics / Dimensions People: 1 Direct report 6 Indirect/Matrix reports (Plant & Project EHS Managers) Close collaboration with India SCLT, Plant Managers, and Unit Managers to provide EHS direction Strong cross-functional partnerships with Manufacturing, Engineering, Logistics & Warehousing, Agro, and HQ teams Other: Responsible for guiding safety and environmental performance across all India Region operations Ensures all projects meet EHS requirements and business decisions consider EHS impact Qualifications, Skills & Experience Education: Degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical preferred) Additional qualification in Environmental Management (preferred) Skills & Competencies: Strong leadership aligned with PepsiCo leadership imperatives Excellent communication skills (report writing & presentations) Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Hands-on, practical problem-solving approach Strong team player with high motivation and ownership Creative and analytical thinker Strong time management and prioritization ability Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Ability to influence beyond direct authority and across functions Conflict resolution and negotiation skills Strategic planning capability, especially in driving cultural change Experience in operational environments, preferably FMCG Proven ability to drive business improvement and transformation initiatives Strong external stakeholder management (including regulatory authorities) Commitment to environmental policies and continuous improvement initiatives Knowledge: Project management methodologies Continuous improvement frameworks (Lean, etc.) In-depth knowledge of EHS laws, regulations, and compliance standards Understanding of business continuity and operational risk impact Strong understanding of safety audits, risk frameworks, and systems Experience: Minimum 10+ years of experience in EHS roles within manufacturing/FMCG environment Demonstrated experience interacting with manufacturing functions Proven project management experience Relevant tertiary qualifications
