This role is for one of the Weekday's clients Salary range: Rs 1000000 - Rs 1500000 (ie INR 10-15 LPA) Experience: 3+ yrs Location: Pune Job Type: full-time We are seeking a highly motivated FinOps Engineer with a strong DevOps foundation and a passion for cloud cost optimization.
This role is ideal for someone who takes ownership of cloud financial efficiency, proactively identifies cost-saving opportunities, and drives optimization initiatives across infrastructure, platforms, and services.
As a FinOps Engineer, you will work closely with Engineering, SRE, Product, and Finance teams to improve cloud spending visibility, optimize resource utilization, and establish cost-conscious engineering practices.
You will play a critical role in ensuring that cloud investments align with business objectives while maintaining platform performance, scalability, and reliability.
Key Responsibilities Continuously analyze and optimize cloud infrastructure costs across AWS, Azure, and GCP environments.
Identify underutilized resources, cost leaks, and inefficiencies across compute, storage, networking, databases, Kubernetes clusters, and SaaS platforms.
Develop and implement cloud cost optimization strategies, including rightsizing, storage optimization, autoscaling improvements, and workload scheduling.
Design and maintain cost visibility dashboards, reporting frameworks, and chargeback/showback models for business stakeholders.
Lead regular cloud cost reviews and provide actionable recommendations to engineering and leadership teams.
Optimize Kubernetes infrastructure through resource tuning, node optimization, autoscaling configurations, and cost-management tools.
Implement automated monitoring, alerts, and anomaly detection systems to proactively identify unexpected spending patterns.
Integrate cost governance controls into CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure-as-Code templates, and deployment processes.
Collaborate with Finance teams on budgeting, forecasting, cloud spend analysis, and unit economics reporting.
Build automation solutions using scripting languages to streamline reporting and cost management activities.
Drive adoption of FinOps best practices across engineering teams and promote a culture of cloud cost accountability.
Evaluate and implement FinOps platforms and cloud-native cost management tools to improve operational efficiency.
Document optimization initiatives, savings opportunities, and governance processes to support long-term cost management objectives.
What Makes You a Great Fit 3+ years of experience in FinOps, DevOps, Cloud Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or related cloud infrastructure roles.
Strong hands-on experience with AWS and cloud cost optimization methodologies.
Solid understanding of cloud pricing models, including On-Demand, Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, Spot Instances, and committed-use discounts.
Experience working with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar technologies.
Strong knowledge of containerization and Kubernetes platforms, including cost optimization best practices.
Proficiency in scripting and automation using Python, Bash, or Go.
Experience working with CI/CD tools and modern DevOps workflows.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret cloud billing and usage data effectively.
Knowledge of SQL and cloud cost reporting mechanisms for financial analysis and forecasting.
Familiarity with cloud cost management platforms and FinOps tools is highly desirable.
Exposure to multi-cloud environments, including AWS, GCP, and Azure, is a plus.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams.
