Mission Statement:
A Global Component Engineer (Mechanics) will be supporting primarily, Global R&D, across various product lines under Grid Automation Product Group, the position requires proactive, motivated and open-minded approach towards responsibilities & should be able to align with activities as per the Component Engineering Group's Vision, Mission, Strategies & Values by associating with Product Technology & Lifecycle Management, Supply Chain Group.
Your Responsibilities:
- Solid Knowledge of various mechanical components used in manufacturing electrical or equivalent products Ex; Enclosures, Terminal Blocks, Fixtures (like screw, nuts, bolts), Consumables (like label, adhesives, lubricants), Electrical Contacts, Connector Housings & their terminals including coating materials, finishes, plating etc.
- Must be able to analyze 2D & 3D drawings including the datasheet for alternate recommendations & also be proficient with CAD tools when there is a need to develop specification drawings or create a component specification.
- Should also be well versed with GD&T concepts.
- Should have worked in value addition projects resulting in cost optimization (BoM cost reduction, improvements, new component technologies adoption etc.).
- Should have worked with cross functional team supporting development engineers in the NPI phase for new products as well as to maintain support for products in mass production.
- Should have worked with cross functional team selecting component vendors, managing the End of Life (EoL) for mechanical components including analyzing Product Change / Discontinuation Notification (PCN/PDN) & recommending solutions.
- Should have solid understanding of various environmental regulations like RoHS, WEEE, REACH, PFAS, POP etc and cooperate with vendors to ensure that parts and processes meet those standards.
- Also, it is essential to perform assessments & identify regulatory risks in the products on mechanical parts & assembly level.
- Should be able to develop process automation through scripting.

Your Background:
- A Diploma/Bachelor/Master’s in Mechanical Engineering with 8 to 12 years of relevant work experience
- Excellent report generation, modification & presentation skills using Microsoft applications.
- Component Engineering activities & work estimation
- Take part in assigned meetings with an open and transparent communication
- Personal leadership and change leadership
- Ability to contribute in overall process improvements
- Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required.
