We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Associate Director, Software Engineering  

In this role, you will: 

• We are looking for an experienced Lead Java developer who will join our Fixed Income Algo team and help deliver new pricing functionality, market connectivity and workflows across multiple regions.
• Successful candidates will have proven skills developing and deploying production JVM based high performance Algo systems.
• Successful candidates will be participating in a whole range of front to back architecture, design and development activities. It is vital that the candidate can challenge the status quo and help explore new avenues of efficiency.
• Partner with trading, quant and product stakeholders to improve trading strategies and platform capabilities. Contribute to platform design: performance, resilience, observability, and operational readiness.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews, pairing and technical guidance; help set and uphold engineering standards. Where needed, contribute to UI capabilities for automated trading workflows (React/HTML5 desirable).
• Expand testing/back testing capability to ensure lower defect rates and increase new strategy development productivity. Integration with existing Fixed Income electronic trading platform. Integrating with Quantitative Analytical tools. Expansion of trading to additional venues and desks where required
• Conducting research – both in technology but also business process and strategy – to ensure knowledge of best practice needed to support delivery for business stakeholders. Responsibilities will include requirements gathering, design, development, unit testing, system testing, back-testing, implementation and (2nd line) support systems.
• Primary development language is Java/Scala. A track record of agile delivery of Business requirements is a must. Must demonstrate full ownership of mission critical production systems.   

To be successful, you will:

• Strong Java/Scala server-side development experience is essential. The candidate must be able to demonstrate strong knowledge of multi-threaded development.
• Experience with designing and implementing high performance / low latency systems is essential. Being able to demonstrate ability to implement reusable and maintainable object oriented and (or alternatively functional programming) designs is essential. Demonstrable experience implementing global, distributed systems in a mission critical/trading environment is highly desirable
• Experience with web-based (HTML5) front end technologies is desirable. Experience with BDD/TDD is desirable
• Hands-on experience with e-Trading protocols/encoding like FIX and SBE (Simple Binary Encoding).
• Attention to detail is essential, Clear communicator who can work effectively across technology, trading, product, and support functions, ownership mindset: able to drive delivery, manage risk, and improve production stability and Is self-organized and self-driven and is confident enough to solve problems independently where appropriate.
• Knowledge of the e-trading workflow, fixed income is ideal, but other asset classes are acceptable. Operation of trading desks in a large, multi-site Investment Bank or Hedge Fund. Fixed Income in a high-volume low latency environment.
• Experience working on enterprise systems but also agile delivery of business-driven requirements, Fixed Income market mechanics.
