The Collaboration and Communication Product Line at JP Morgan Chase is responsible for engineering, developing and supporting enterprise-wide solutions that allow our global workforce of over 250K+ employees to effectively collaborate and communicate internally and with our global client base.  Our products drive the productivity for our global customer base and are the heartbeat of the firm.   


We are looking for an experienced engineering lead for our Collaboration Apps feature team. It is a full stack software engineering team primarily focused on Microsoft 365 (formerly known as Office 365) software engineering solutions and also provide solutions for other collaboration tools such as white boarding, etc. We strive to utilize TDD to create well tested (95-100%) and easily maintainable code bases. In addition to being the lead for the team, you will be hands-on and pick up stories out of our backlog and work closely with the rest of team as needed through informal questions and discussions or through paired programming as appropriate. You will strive to keep and seek to raise the high bar our team has for software quality throughout all of code bases. This is an amazing opportunity to work on the transformation of the product suite as the firm evolves into a fully digital workplace and this role will be the key visionary behind that transformation. As a Lead Software Engineer, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. We look first and foremost for people who are passionate around solving business problems through innovation & engineering practices. You will be required to apply your depth of knowledge and expertise to all aspects of the software development lifecycle, as well as partner continuously with your many stakeholders on a daily basis to stay focused on common goals. You are expected to have experience as a full-stack developer who has built APIs and solutions against a variety of components in the collaboration space and on Microsoft 365 apps. This is an exciting, transformational and leadership role with lots of opportunity for innovative solutions.  


We are looking for a candidate who, in addition to well-rounded technology expertise, is willing to challenge the way things may have been done in the past when appropriate. This individual is able to adapt quickly as our environment may move in technical directions that we cannot foresee today.  Works well in a team setting and collaborate across multiple teams efficiently.  Ability to lead and work in a dynamic, agile, team-oriented environment is key to this position.  Have strong opinions, but hold them loosely.  The ideal candidate will look at new technology as an opportunity to provide innovative solutions to unique challenges.  


Primary Responsibilities:


  • Hands-on development of high quality secure software, adopting the Software Delivery Lifecycle tools, following Architecture patterns and Agile best practices
  • Collaborate with the Product owner to align the team with the product vision, sprint goals, and other necessary information
  • Provide architectural blueprints and technical leadership to the development team
  • Utilize tools, technology and various modern methodologies to lead, guide and train a team of software engineers
  • Champion continuous improvement activities to enhance productivity; coach organization to conduct continuous improvement events
  • Communicate organizational impediments to leadership; clear impediments for the team

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills


  • 5 years’ experience in Office 365 development and implementation. 
  • Hands on experience with enterprise collaboration and communications platforms in the M365 space with exposure to microservice architecture
  • Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
  • Expertise in application, data and infrastructure architecture disciplines & SDLC
  • Technical Leadership qualities to lead and contribute within a larger global team
  • Ability to coach, mentor, collaborate with and influence people at various levels
  • Understanding of cloud, virtualization, REST API design, and modern software languages

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills 


  • Strong understanding of Agile Software Development Lifecycle 
  • Experience with DevOps principles and practices
