Job description

About SailPoint

  • *This is a Pune, India based role. We work in a hybrid model in the office 2-3 days a week. You will be part of a global team working closely with engineers in the US. Must be willing to work at least 4 overlapping hours with the US time zone.*
  • SailPoint is the leader in identity security for the cloud and self-hosted enterprise. Our identity security solutions secure and enable thousands of companies worldwide, giving our customers unmatched visibility into the entirety of their digital workforce and ensuring workers have the right access to do their job – no more, no less.
  • Built on a foundation of AI and ML, our Identity Products deliver the right level of access to the right identities and resources at the right time—matching the scale, velocity, and changing needs of today’s cloud-oriented, modern enterprise.

About the Role

  • SailPoint is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead a full-stack engineering team for our flagship on-premises solution, IdentityIQ (IIQ). This team possesses the technical expertise and responsibility to drive core feature development and platform modernization, ensuring our customers receive timely, high-quality, and scalable releases.
  • In this role, you will oversee both the development and QA processes, ensuring rigorous verification of resolved issues, automated testing, and seamless patch release deliverables. You will partner closely with Product Managers to ensure business requirements are clearly understood, scoped, developed, tested, and successfully deployed.
  • To lead this team, we are looking for an experienced, motivational manager who will oversee how our enterprise customers utilize IdentityIQ to solve complex, large-scale identity and access management challenges. This is a high-visibility leadership role offering deep organizational exposure, influence, and ownership over mission-critical systems.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and Grow: Manage, mentor, and grow a high-performing, full-stack engineering team focused on IdentityIQ product and feature development.
  • Drive Execution: Oversee day-to-day feature development, platform modernization, and technical debt reduction within an Agile environment.
  • Strategic Partnership: Collaborate with internal stakeholders and Product Management to define clear priorities, manage resource allocation, and plan key projects.
  • Project Delivery: Identify, scope, prioritize, track, and report on deliverables and milestones, managing risks and issues targeted for major and patch releases.
  • Quality & Accessibility: Champion software quality by overseeing test automation efforts (e.g., Cypress) and ensuring compliance with modern software accessibility standards (WCAG).
  • Cultivate Excellence: Foster a culture of technical rigor, deep ownership, and continuous improvement across both Dev and QA disciplines.
  • What Makes This Role Special
  • You’ll build systems that actively reduce enterprise blast radius.
  • Your work will be central to zero-trust and least-privilege enforcement at scale.
  • You’ll operate at the absolute core of identity, authorization, and security automation for some of the world's largest organizations.

What We’re Looking For

  • 15+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years leading and managing product feature engineering teams.
  • Results-focused track record of success working within an Agile software development lifecycle.
  • Strong foundational understanding of software development, particularly in Java, as well as modern front-end architectures.
  • Exceptional leadership and mentoring skills with a passion for continuous improvement and coaching engineers to their full potential.
  • Excellent organizational, project management, and cross-functional communication skills.
  • Ability to rapidly pick up new technologies, understand complex codebases, and drive technical decision-making.
  • A proactive, flexible, and highly collaborative "people person."

Nice to Have

  • Experience with PAM (Privileged Access Management) or zero-trust architectures.
  • Familiarity with policy engines, RBAC/ABAC, or real-time authorization.
  • Experience integrating with enterprise platforms and cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Familiarity with build tooling, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps processes.
  • Knowledge of software accessibility (WCAG), auditability, compliance, and security controls.
