Manager Early Asset / Pipeline Forecasting

Within our commercial Insights, Analytics, and Data organization we are transforming to better power decision-making across our end-to-end commercialization process, from early-stage drug development to late lifecycle management.
Forecasting deliverables support planning and decision making across multiple functional areas such as finance, manufacturing & supply, product development and commercial. In addition to ensuring high-quality deliverables, our team drives synergies across specialty care, fosters innovation and best practices, and creates solutions to bring speed, scale and shareability to our planning processes. As we endeavor, we are seeking a dynamic talent for the role of “Senior Manager – Forecasting”
We are looking for a team member to support our forecasting team based out of Hyderabad, India. Robust forecasting is a priority for our businesses, as the product potential has major implications to a wide range of disciplines. Thus, it is essential to have someone who understands and aspires to implement innovative forecasting techniques to generate insights for our products in clinical development.
Primary Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To

 


  • Create objective and robust forecast models – generating patients on therapy, demand units, and revenue – taking into consideration key data, insights, trends, and assumptions around patient flow, market dynamics, competitive landscape, payer mix, etc.
  • Assess, recommend, and execute on the optimal method(s) for forecasting, considering the context of the forecast, therapeutic/disease area, availability of data, the degree of accuracy required for the process/decision-making, and the required timeline
  • Contribute to evolving our offerings and improving efficiency of repeated /routine processes through standardization/ automation of various offerings, models, and processes
  • Evaluate existing forecast models to identify and prioritize areas for improvement to drive better efficiency, flexibility, and results over time
  • Refresh forecast model assumptions and as needed structure / functionality with the latest insights as they become available
  • Understand the spectrum of internal/external data that is available to inform forecasts and utilize a broad range of techniques to access and synthesize that data
  • Conduct sensitivity analyses and evaluate alternative scenarios to assist in risk management, asset valuation, and informed decision-making
  • Support presentation of forecasts and insights by various communication channels and methods: discussion and review, slide generation, submission into internal systems, and reporting dashboards
  • Create simple or cloud-based dashboards to synthesize and visualize key information enabling informed business decisions
  • Support NPP Forecasting colleagues with analytical research needs. Examples could include activities as diverse as secondary research, assisting with the development or interpretation of primary market research.
  • Capability in applying deeper technical skills and knowledge that is shared across the functional area (e.g., deep knowledge of key data sets, modeling capabilities, etc.)
  • Understand the external environment for context on the latest therapeutic area research and clinical development, as well as competitive landscape to inform forecast dynamics

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience


  • Advanced degree in areas such as Statistics/Decision Sciences/Engineering/Business (e.g., PhD / MBA / Masters); 7+ years of experience in pharmaceutical product forecasting. Experience on Specialty brands preferred. In-depth knowledge of forecasting techniques and use of different forecast models and approaches.
  • Expert knowledge of Excel
  • Hands on experience on with multiple forecasting techniques and methodologies (time series, Monte Carlo, what-if scenarios, range forecasting, etc.)
  • Experience with sources and analysis of life sciences data (Claims, IQVIA, Symphony, Specialty Pharmacy, etc.)
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages used for data query and analysis (VBA, SQL, Python, R, SAS, etc.)
  • Strong skill in synthesizing forecast data into presentations that can be understood by stakeholders across the organization, including those who are unfamiliar (the “so-what”)
  • Demonstrated leadership and management in driving innovation and automation
  • Ability to synthesize complex information into clear and actionable insights
  • Proven ability to communicate and collaborate effectively across diverse levels and stakeholder in different functional roles in a matrixed global organization
  • Strong analytical skills; an aptitude for problem solving and strategic thinking
  • Ability to manage ambiguous environments, and to adapt to changing needs of business

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Experience


  • Experience working with colleagues in other geographies (United States, Europe, APAC)
  • Solid understanding of pharmaceutical development, manufacturing & supply, and marketing functions
  • Experience using artificial intelligence and/or machine learning to analyze complex data sets in a forecasting capacity
  • Experience using TM1 Planning Analytics reports and/or familiarity with Snowflake
  • Understanding of data governance and data quality tools
  • Familiarity with data visualization and business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)
  • Experience using analytical platforms (e.g., Databricks, Jupyter Notebook, SQL developers, etc.)
  • Familiar with interpreting and/or designing market research studies
