Overview & Responsibilities

Reporting to the Operations Manager – a Production Engineer should ensure YR / MYR turbines are assembled and packaged efficiently, safely, at the right cost and to the right level of quality in order to meet customer order requirements & industry standards alike. Prepared to travel and work outside normal hours/overtime to meet company’s needs.
This position directs personnel and capital resources to affect the manufacture of YR/ MYR Turbines and packages using the most cost effective and timely methods with the goal of the finished product being of the highest quality. 
Plan the scope of work, prepare work schedules, provide the proper tools and information to Shop employees/Machine Operators/Assembly technicians/Testing Operators/Packaging & shipping employees related to their work assignments, and enforce plant rules.
Function as a Lead engineer for all Manufacturing activities in shop .Effectively interact with Co-workers and direct reports to implement a coordinated plan covering assembly and test of SSYR/MYR steam turbines.
Contribution and participation in production meetings.
Ensure safe work practices are adhered to at all times. Co-ordinate on Safe work practices with the Operations Manager and EHS Lead.
Maintain a clean and orderly work place within the department.
Evaluate employee performance and work with individuals to develop work performance improvement plans as required.
Makes man-hour estimates to time and scheduling required to complete assignments and submits estimates to Operations Manager 
Control costs associated with budgets including but not limited to material purchases, contracted services and overtime.
Ensure that all work conducted meets current standards as defined by such national, state and local regulatory agencies 
This position may be assigned to alternate shifts as necessary to carry out the department’s objectives and tasks 
Communicate with outside vendors and contractors for project related works.
Maintain an environment for professional and ethical conduct within the Shop Area.
Responsible for making specific suggestions for cost, productivity, and quality improvement, originating new ideas, suggesting training, capital improvements or other programs to their supervisor.
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/Production/Industrial Engineering or equivalent with 5 years’ Experience.
Solid understanding of manufacturing and assembly drawings and blueprints is must.
A working interpretation of all forms of manufacturing-related transmittals such as work instructions, process specifications, special engineering instructions, etc.
Must be comfortable in a heavy manufacturing environmental and work with limited supervision
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills required. Familiarization with ISO, ASME, and API codes and regulations
Experience in a rotating equipment manufacturing environment 
Knowledge of Quality systems and standards 
Knowledge of CNC & conventional Machines & tools 
Work experience on  SMAW, TIG & MIG welding, NDT, Heat Treatment, Grit blasting ,Painting and Balancing are added advantage.
Intermediate experience and knowledge of complex lean concepts and tools.
Indeterminate analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to creatively solve complex problems by using quality tools & Familiar with office software’s & ERP systems. 
Knowledge of Health and Safety standards and Compliance (EHS).
Working knowledge of process equipment such as air compressors, cooling towers, cooling water pumps, lubricating oil systems and water treatment systems are a plus.
Working knowledge of Pressure testing, Rotor Balancing, NDT and Heat Treatment process.
Computer Literacy including PLC's as required to monitor steam system and turbine testing.
Knowledge of troubleshooting rotating equipment issues encountered during testing is a plus.
Good communication skills verbal and written 
Ability to analyze work scopes, schedules, specifications, technical drawings, manuals and other documents.
Supervisor of a team for Assembly, Test and packaging of  SSYR and MYR steam turbines. Shall be responsible for Testing of Turbines & supports Packaging of Turbines with other accessories mounting ,alignment on base frames and packing/loading supervision of steam turbines within the allocated standard hours.  
Creates and executes daily work plans based on department/divisions priorities to ensure schedule adherence. 
Supports the development and implementation of continuous improvement activities related to Machining ,Assembly ,Piping, Welding, Packaging & Test Operations , but not limited to establishing best practices, standard work instructions, safety culture and habits, and good housekeeping techniques. 
Supports EHS , Training and developmental plan for Assembly technicians , Machining Operators & Testing Operators.

Contact with the following, will be directly supervised initially and continuously monitored by Operations Manager, Assembly & Test, Lead Engineer, or other senior staff member as required by the level of communication:
End users or Purchasers
Engineering Contractors 
Third Party Engineering Firms 
Elliott suppliers with which technical information must be exchanged.
Any Regulatory Agency.
Communications and contact is expected to be of a strictly technical nature.   Communications regarding commercial matters should be addressed only under the direction of Operations Manager, Supply chain Department,   or another ELLIOTT senior staff member.
Reviews the test stand arrangements developed by the Utilities operator utilizing available 2D and 3D software, department knowledge base as well as major input from Test Engineering on specific project requirements.
Ensures test arrangements are designed with personnel safety and equipment care as paramount.
Performs engineering assignments that have clear and specific objectives and which require the investigation of application, performance, reliability costs, and manufacturing.
Determines the best procedure for performing engineering assignments from standard design and test parameters, and suggests new methods of calculation, analysis, and test. Solve problems associated with this work.
Prepares and executes experimental programs or shop order tests for the development of new or existing products. 
Evaluates and initiates changes to existing test designs and selection as required by Test Engineering, shop orders, process improvement, manufacturing problems, and manufacturing deviations.
Make sketches and engineering designs for assigned projects and follows-up with drafting reviews of preliminary drawings from department drafters.  Reviews and approves layout and detail test setup drawings, issues purchase requests, and informs Operations Manager of activity status.
Collaborates with, advises, provides technical information and follows-up with other departments on the selection, specifications, construction, assembly, material quality, tooling, test performance, scrap, salvage, cost and design compatibility, etc., of assigned engineering activity to insure conformance to design and quality standards.
Keeps informed of new technology, turbomachinery  applications and competitive developments and makes this knowledge known to those who have a need to know.

Emphasis is placed on reducing cost factors such as scrap and rework that may be incurred during production. Any errors in implementation of judgment could very easily result in multi-million dollar losses to the company and adversely affect Elliott's relationship with it's customers, and have a negative impact on Elliott's share of the turbomachinery market.
