About the role:

Mimecast is seeking a Senior Software Architect to join its Architecture Leadership Team. They will report to the Chief Architect and will collaborate with the entire company to design cyber security platforms and technologies that will provide a strategic advantage in the fight against cyber criminals and attackers. Mimecast services and products protect over 40,000 organizations around the world.

The Senior Software Architect will be charged with evolving Mimecast technologies as well as actively participating in the Architecture Leadership Team. This team supports the modernization of existing systems through evaluation of new technologies, development of standards for the introduction of new approaches and providing a safe and collaborative space for new ideas to be explored. The Senior Software Architect will support Mimecast engineering teams and junior architects to analyze, identify and address issues and risk in their existing systems.

The successful candidate will be a strategic systems thinker who plans for the future and has a diverse combination of skills and experiences

What You’ll Bring:

• Experience with developing and operating scalable, modular, performance-driven platforms utilizing PaaS and SaaS native cloud models
• Design systems to meet security, performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability requirements.
• Participate in design discussions about new features and approaches to implementing new services and collaborate cross-functionally to analyze, engineer, and implement end-to-end solutions.
• Create architecture, designs, and documentation that will lead to consistent reliability, scalability, security, and performance of the system as a whole
• Coach and guide cross-functional teams through technical tasks and work with product managers to understand feature requirements.
• Plan short-term efforts and assist with the planning of medium- and long-term efforts and multi-team projects.
• Maintain technical and working knowledge of systems to act as subject matter expert for the overall system
• Exceptional team skills with the ability to drive collaboration and partnerships across various parts of an organization
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels – from junior engineers to C-Suite
