Position Summary:


The Senior Audio Visual Engineer (Sr AV Engineer) is a member of the AV Services team of the Global Information Services (GIS) group.  The AV Services team is collectively responsible for conferencing services administration: maintaining 550+ global conference rooms, AV design/implementation for real estate refresh and buildout efforts, UC infrastructure associated with AV services, and global Town Hall event management and moderation. 


The Sr AV Engineer is responsible for supporting a range of AV and collaboration services, technology, and infrastructure. This role also assists the AV Operations team as needed with meeting and event support tasks.


The ideal candidate will have experience managing Cisco video conferencing infrastructure and endpoints, Microsoft Teams conferencing, and typical conference room collaboration hardware/software solutions.


The ideal candidate will also have excellent technical skills, an understanding of technology’s intersection with Illumina’s business, up to date knowledge of collaboration technologies and trends, and will use this knowledge to continue to drive innovation in the AV collaboration space at Illumina.


Responsibilities:


  • Performs engineering, operations, and maintenance for key AV platforms and technologies – including but not limited to Cisco Cloud Video Infrastructure, Cisco Video Conference Room Hardware Solutions, Microsoft Teams Conferencing, Microsoft Teams Rooms solutions and Crestron Fusion.


  • Ensures the day-to-day availability of AV services for the enterprise


  • Plan and manage AV projects, including system installations, upgrades, and integrations, from inception to completion


  • Collective responsibility with the rest of the global AV Services team to ensure the Service Management ticket queues are effectively managed based on priority & commitment.


  • Communicates to management, managed services partners, and manufacturers outages, priority issues, recurring problems, and patterns.


  • Leads the technical investigation and resolution of AV related issues with cross-functional teams when necessary (incident management, problem management and root cause analysis).


  • Creation of documentation (knowledge base articles, reference guides, root cause analysis, etc.) related to AV services and technology.


  • Drive continuous improvement efforts by identifying areas for optimization, streamlining processes, and implementing best practices.


  • Responsible for building standards as well as managing, maintaining, and updating those standards for AV services.


  • Performs remote support for meetings, events, & incidents when required in coordination with the AV Operations team.

Requirements:


  • At least 5+ years’ experience in the AV industry designing, operating, and maintaining conference room collaboration solutions for video/audio calling, presentation and control systems.  


  • 5+ years’ experience servicing and supporting Cisco video conferencing infrastructure and collaboration endpoint hardware/software preferred.


  • 3+ years’ experience with Microsoft Teams conferencing administration and knowledge of certified Microsoft Teams Rooms solutions preferred.


  • Avixa CTS required, CTS-D preferred.


  • Cisco CCIE / CCNA / CCNP certifications preferred.


  • Microsoft 365 Collaboration Communications Systems Engineer Associate certification desired.


  • Excellent communication skills & customer service approach.

Education:


  • Bachelors or equivalent Technical associates degree related to audio visual engineering, recording, broadcast solutions or computer science required.
