Job Description: Senior Engineer – Tooling & Polymer Technology


Location: Bengaluru, India (R&D Centre)
Position Type: Full-time


We are seeking a Senior Engineer to handle the design, tooling development, and track production of high-volume hard good consumer products. You will oversee the complete lifecycle of molded components from polymer selection to production rollout at manufacturing site, while managing cross-functional stakeholder collaboration.


Key Responsibilities


  • Product Design: Lead the design and development of hard good consumer products tailored for the mass market.
  • Tool Engineering: Review, design, and optimize 3D mold layouts for multi-cavity injection tooling.
  • Material Selection: Select engineering polymers and elastomers optimized for mechanical wear and flexibility.
  • Lab Validation: Conduct laboratory evaluations, generate performance reports, and build complete technical data packages including standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • DFM Engineering: Lead Design for Manufacturing (DFM) reviews to reduce cycle times and eliminate structural defects.
  • IP Management: Experience navigating patent landscapes and drafting technical documentation for freedom-to-operate evaluations
  • Supplier Coordination: Manage tooling vendors directly to ensure tool construction matches technical specifications.
  • Quality & Support: Handle customer complaints by conducting root-cause analysis on failed plastics and implementing design fixes.
  • Cross-Functional Liaison: Coordinate seamlessly with internal teams (R&D, Sourcing, Quality, Life Cycle Management, Vendor Development) and external suppliers.
  • Commercial Enablement: Create technical sales pitch documents, conduct product training, and develop physical demo tools for field teams.

Required Experience & Skills


  • Experience Duration: 3 to 8 years of industrial experience in tooling, polymer technology, and product engineering.
  • Industry Focus: Proven experience engineering consumer goods, with specific preference for mechanical cleaning tools.
  • Molding Expertise: Mastery of injection molding, overmolding, DFM reviews, and Moldflow simulation analysis.
  • CAD Software: Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks, Creo, or Siemens NX for surface modeling and mold assembly.
  • Polymer Science: Practical knowledge of commodity and engineering plastics (e.g., PP, ABS, POM, TPE, Nylon).

  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong clarity of thought.
