Job description

Some careers shine brighter than others.

If you’re looking for a career that will help you stand out, join HSBC and fulfil your potential. Whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or simply take you in an exciting new direction, HSBC offers opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.

HSBC is one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with operations in 64 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people to fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Consultant Specialist

In this role, you will:

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of full stack web solutions across Angular UI, .NET Core APIs/services, and SQL/relational databases.
  • Own solution design and make pragmatic technical decisions balancing delivery pace, risk, cost, and long-term maintainability.
  • Build scalable, resilient, high-performing applications with strong observability (logging/monitoring) and operational readiness.
  • Set and uphold engineering standards (clean code, secure coding, testing strategy, code reviews, branching, definition of done).
  • Drive quality engineering through automation, unit/integration testing, performance testing, and defect prevention.
  • Contribute to Agile/DevOps delivery, including CI/CD pipelines, release automation, environment readiness, and production support.
  • Act as the application/service ITSO, embedding security requirements into delivery and day-to-day operations.
  • Partner with Cybersecurity, Risk, Compliance, and Architecture to meet HSBC security policies, secure-by-design principles, and regulatory expectations.
  • Lead incident resolution and root cause analysis, keeping architecture/runbooks/support documentation current and driving continuous improvement.

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:

  • Strong .NET Core/C# expertise (ASP.NET, MVC, Web API/services) with proven full stack delivery experience.
  • Strong front-end capability with Angular (v5+), plus HTML/JavaScript (and related web technologies).
  • Strong SQL skills (MS SQL preferred), including schema design, query optimisation, and performance tuning.
  • Proven experience working in Agile teams and contributing to DevOps/CI/CD practices and automation.
  • Working knowledge of secure engineering practices (e.g., OWASP Top 10, secure API design, authentication/authorisation patterns).
  • Experience with vulnerability management and remediation (CVEs, dependency/library risk, patching, security testing outputs) and supporting control evidence/audits.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to mentor others, manage technical risk, and drive delivery in a regulated environment.

You’ll achieve more when you join HSBC.
