JOB SUMMARY

• Model Risk System is a function within Model Risk Policy & Governance (“MRPG”) which is part of the broader Enterprise Risk Management organization within the Risk & Compliance Division. Model Risk System is responsible for the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of the Group model inventory systems, aka Model Risk System.The function supports the Business and Risk functions in the use of the model risk systems to manage their model portfolios and ensuring alignment to Group model risk policy, standards and the established model lifecycle.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategy

The Senior Manager, Model Risk System, will support the team and colleagues in their role of managing and improving model risk systems to internal / external stakeholders by:

• Supporting model risk systems stakeholders across all stages of the model risk lifecycle and all model families in the group.
• Delivering and maintaining platform processes, support and engagement content.
• Ongoing review, tracking, testing and monitoring of the model risk systems feature pipeline.

Business

• Support, maintain and monitor model risk systems including Group Analytics Model Explorer (GAME), Group Model Inventory (GMI) and related processes
• Log, monitor and progress requests of the model risk systems
• Provide timely and high-quality responses to internal/external queries and requests
• Perform BAU tasks across model risk systems to support model management in an efficient manner
• Experienced at Excel/CSV transformation and manipulation
• Experienced at Jira Filtering, Searching and JQL
• Undertake ad-hoc model risk systems requests as they arise 
• Liaise and follow up on platform deliverables with all model risk systems stakeholders for efficient implementation of model risk systems initiatives
• Identify, summarize and provide priorities and inputs on key risk of model risk systems initiatives
• Be able to clearly explain issues identified, along with the risk and causes to stakeholders, using language designed to be understood by non-experts
• Independent thinker with strong written and verbal communication skills
• Carry out additional duties as assigned

Processes

• Track and drive delivery of any action items relating to model risk systems 
• Participate in relevant model platform activities and its user acceptance testing to ensure key features across model lifecycle are appropriately implemented 
• Carryout regular reviews of model risk systems processes ensuring they are efficient, effective and relevant
• Embed Operational Risk monitoring as an integral part of the business process
• Help establish and maintain frameworks to ensure model risk systems processes are efficient, appropriate and compliant with all internal and external regulations

People & Talent

• Engage with all model risk systems stakeholders for efficient communication and implementation of deliverables, and facilitate issue resolution
• Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values. Work in collaboration with Team and other required stakeholders as deem fit.
• Encourage and promote an active training and learning environment to facilitate excellence in risk management, risk awareness, behaviours and accountability.
• Be a good Team player and support the team in case of any adhoc requirements/excessive volumes etc.

Risk Management

• Assist with ongoing improvements of model risk systems
• Assist with training and educating of the model risk systems and workflows
• Monitor all model risk systems risks and issues. Where appropriate, direct remedial action and/or ensure escalation to model risk systems
• Proactive in seeking regular assurance that areas of responsibility are performing to an acceptable risk and control standards as deem fit.

Governance

• Accountable for satisfactory closure of issues / gaps arising from Internal Audits, peer reviews and regulatory reviews for the areas of work.
• Adherence to confidentiality agreement always.
• Adherence to Group Policy and Code of conduct always.

Our Ideal Candidate

• Degree or equivalent educated
• 8-12 years of working experience in model management / delivery platforms within banks or financial services 
• Proven record across various model lifecycle steps
• Broad knowledge of model risk management, processes and associated risks and control requirements
• Understanding of regulatory guidance and requirements around model risk management
• Advanced experience with Data, SQL, Reporting platforms
