WW Promotions team owns end-to-end lifecycle of promotions such as Deals, Coupons, Price Discount, and Buy-X-Get-Y type of promotions. This role is for a Senior Software Development Engineer (Sr. SDE) on the Basket Building promotions team that owns services and tools used to create Basket Building promotions on Amazon website. These promotions give discounts to incentivize customers to add more items in their cart, which is a win-win for our customers (more discounts), Selling Partners (think cross-selling and increased demand), and Amazon (reduced ship costs).
Basket Building promotions make several Billion Dollars for Amazon, and we are looking for a Sr. SDE who can lead initiatives to grow the business three fold in the next three years. You should be able to lead highly ambiguous projects by working with Product Managers, business teams, and tech leadership to grow the business five-fold in next three years. You will be expected to be the 'tech lead' for these projects, and lead a team of several engineers to deliver them.
You will have to understand the complex Promotions and Pricing systems, and figure out how our solutions fit in this architecture. You will own the long term architecture of the Basket Building team, and responsible for the quality of design and implementation of your team. You will work with Principal Engineers, Senior Managers in the Promotions org and our partner teams to define the tech vision and help execute it. You will also advise SDMs and PMs on tech tradeoffs and balancing Operational Excellence with new feature development.

- 6+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 6+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 6+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- 8+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
