Job Description – Senior Software Engineer (Level 5)
Experience: 18+ years
Role Overview
Lead Software Engineer Level 5 is a senior technical leader responsible for owning major platform components, driving architectural decisions, mentoring multiple teams, and ensuring engineering excellence across the product. This role requires strong system-level thinking, high technical depth, leadership skills, and effective use of AI tools to accelerate delivery, improve quality, and drive innovation.

Key Responsibilities
•    Own design and development of large-scale, business-critical systems or platform areas.
•    Define architecture patterns, coding standards, and technical guidelines for the team.
•    Lead technical grooming sessions, system reviews, and cross-team engineering discussions.
•    Mentor senior engineers (L3/L4) and uplift technical capability across teams.
•    Perform deep system debugging, performance engineering, scalability planning, and optimization.
•    Drive CI/CD, automation, observability, and cloud adoption initiatives.
•    Collaborate with Product, Architects, QA, Security, and DevOps to deliver high-quality releases.
•    Use AI tools for architecture exploration, code intelligence, automation, and rapid prototyping.
•    Influence long-term technical roadmap and platform modernization strategy.

Required Technical Skills
•    Expert-level proficiency in Java, JSP Servlets, Springboot, microservices, distributed systems, API architecture.
•    Strong experience in large-scale system design, integration patterns, and performance engineering.
•    Excellent problem-solving, system-level debugging, and technical decision-making skills.
•    Strong SQL expertise, including optimization, indexing strategy, and handling high-volume data.
•    Practical experience with Azure/AWS for architecture, deployments, scaling, monitoring, and cost optimization.
•    Proficient in using AI tools (Copilot, ChatGPT, Azure AI Studio) for: Architecture suggestions, Code acceleration and refactoring, Test automation and documentation
•    Ability to guide teams on effective AI-assisted engineering practices.

Preferred Skills
•    Experience in Kubernetes, event-driven systems, caching, API gateways.
•    Strong understanding of DevOps, CI/CD, security practices, and observability tools.
•    Ability to influence architecture at product or platform level.
