Job Description Summary:


What you need to know about the role:
As an Engineering Manager in the ServiceNow Center of Excellence (COE), you will lead engineering efforts for the ServiceNow platform. You will leverage your expertise and technical ability to assess, improve, and manage the performance and quality of the ServiceNow engineering function. You will be seen as a trusted advisor and role model for your engineering team.
You will guide and mentor your function through all aspects of engineering – from strategic to tactical – inclusive of design and development, quality assurance, and code migration (pipeline) and release. You will collaborate frequently with key stakeholders spanning a variety of functions, including but not limited to process owners, product management, architecture and engineering teams, and leadership.

Job Description:


Your way to impact:


You will be responsible for managing, coaching, and developing the ServiceNow engineering function, helping to ensure overall quality and alignment of development activities to organizational goals and objectives. You will be responsible for ensuring the timely delivery of quality development deliverables. In addition, you will consult with other ServiceNow COE stakeholders and customers to determine the engineering feasibility, viability, suitability, scalability and effort estimates for new and existing products.


Your day-to-day:


  • Lead and manage the ServiceNow engineering function with a passion for mentoring and growing top-engineering talent.


  • As a hands-on manager, you will participate in key technical and design discussions in collaboration with technical leads and architects.


  • You will aid in identifying, documenting, and implementing areas of improvement across the engineering function, inclusive of broader SDLC areas.


  • You will drive the execution of the defined product, services, and technology roadmap in conjunction with the product management, architecture, and business partner teams.


  • Establish a collaborative work environment that fosters and enables autonomy, transparency, innovation and learning, and accountability of craftsmanship.


  • Participate with senior management in co-developing the ServiceNow technology road map.


  • Be seen as a trusted technical advisory, role model, and coach for engineers – with a strong bias for action and technical excellence.


What you need to bring:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of education and experience


  • 10+ years’ experience in software design and development, and deployment and release across large, enterprise-wide platforms


  • 5+ years’ experience in leading and managing software engineering teams. Strong people management skills and experienced with hiring, managing, and leading talent across a complex and evolving development environment.


  • 5+ years’ experience with the ServiceNow platform. Well versed with common platform conventions


  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CAD) required. ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist in ITSM, ITOM, or ITAM preferred


  • Strong written and verbal communication skills


  • Knowledge of (and a passion for) current trends and best practices across software design and architecture, and SDLC
