Job Description
We are looking for a Software Development Engineer to join a team building AI and ML capabilities into HMI and visualisation platforms for industrial automation environments. The platform runs on a native C++ runtime engine with .NET extensibility, deployed in mission-critical settings on factory floors worldwide. You will develop and deliver features within an established plugin architecture, collaborating closely with platform engineers, architects, and domain specialists across geographies and time zones. Engaging confidently with senior technical stakeholders and representing your work clearly is as important as the code you write.
Responsibilities
Owning feature development, enhancement, and maintenance of an existing Qt 6.x and QML module, keeping it current as the platform evolves
Building and maintaining .NET managed layers that surface platform capabilities to higher-level feature code, working closely with the core platform team on anything that crosses the native boundary
Writing well-structured, maintainable C++ for feature-level work, with a sound understanding of ownership, object lifetime, and exception safety in a production codebase
Collaborating with engineers, architects, and domain specialists across multiple geographies and time zones, contributing to design discussions, participating in code reviews, and communicating progress and blockers clearly
Working with QA on integration testing and regression prevention for features you own
Contributing to AI and ML feature development over time, including services that expose model outputs, RAG pipelines, and agentic workflows connected to industrial systems
Technical Skills & Experience
We are looking for 4–6 years of professional software development experience. The following skills are required:
Candidates must hold either a master’s or bachelor’s degree in engineering or computer science/ Application.
Production-quality C++ (C++11–17) — ownership and lifetime management, exception safety, STL, smart pointers, and move semantics, with experience writing thread-safe code and managing object lifetimes in async and callback scenarios
Working knowledge of C#/.NET - async/await patterns, LINQ, and modern C# features, with some exposure to how managed code interacts with native C++
Working knowledge of Python, including scripting, automation, or tooling in a software development context. Any exposure to Python integration in a C++ context such as Cython is a plus
Familiarity with CMake in a multi-module C++ project, able to navigate build structures and diagnose common configuration issues
Familiarity with unit testing in C++ and C# contexts - Google Test and NUnit or xUnit
Comfortable working with Git in a team environment, including pull requests and async code review workflows
Hands-on experience with Qt 6.x, including QML development and a working understanding of the compilation pipeline
Managed–native bridging via P/Invoke, COM, or C++/CLI
Experience with embedded or time-series databases such as SQLite or InfluxDB
Familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as OPC UA or MQTT
Exposure to AI/ML feature development such as model serving, RAG pipelines, or agentic workflows
