Position Summary
Linux Kernel or Device driver developer will join our Software team to develop our next generation Inflight Entertainment and Connectivity (IFEC) product suite. As a Scrum/Squad team member, the Software Engineer will design, implement and test changes in the Android based client components and, in the Linux, based server components meeting the quality objectives. After deployment of the changes, he/she will support the investigation and provide fixes to resolve remaining issues.
Key Responsibilities
Responsible for Implementation and Integration of new features in our Inflight Entertainment and Connectivity (IFEC) product suites Contribute.
Design and implement in Linux server programming.
Able to modify/create services in the Android framework/Platform, not just caller of the Framework services.
Design and Implement software changes on Linux based server
Demonstrate Quality focused mindset on terms of software delivery and adherence to the code maintainability and testability within the phases of software development lifecycle.
Support the IFEC system Verification and Validation phase and In-Service tea
Must be able to proactively work with sense of urgency and accountability in an Agile-driven (Scrum/Squad) environment within the context of the sprint commitments interacting with Product Owner and Software Architect.
Contribute to the continuous improvement process in order to increase our competitiveness
Skills & Experience
Bachelor’s or master's degree in computer science or related engineering discipline with 5+ Years of industry experience
Strong understanding of Linux-based embedded systems - architecture and kernel subsystems
With solid understanding of fundamentals like Process/Memory management, IPC mechanism, device drivers, file system
Hands-on experience in system level debugging and profiling using Linux tools like strace, perf, ftrace, netstat, tcpdump, and kernel logs
Good understanding of Networking concepts
Strong understanding of bootloader design and embedded board bring-up, including early initialization of hardware components, device tree setup, and system startup sequence.
Good understanding of Android-specific modifications to the Linux Kernel like Binder IPC, Process/Memory management
In-depth understanding of Android AOSP internals
covering system startup, Binder IPC architecture, process and lifecycle management, application launch flow.
Integration across framework, native libraries (JNI/.so), and native system services (native daemons and HAL-related components).
Experience in all phases of software development lifecycle: requirements analysis, tech design, implementation, code review, testing, and release.
Fundamental verbal and written communication
Proficiency in troubleshooting issues during development lifecycle and use necessary tools to measure software quality/performance.
