Job description

The Senior HSE Engineer is responsible for implementation of Health, Safety & Environment policies and programs across Honeywell in line with legal obligation and Honeywell requirements. The role is accountable for ensuring compliance to legal standards and corporate policies and procedures. The Senior HSE engineer is responsible for driving HSE programs like Management of Change process, Chemical Management, Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment, Performing Root cause analysis, Safety audits/Inspections and conducting periodic HSE training and awareness programs.

Responsibilities:

GROWTH 


Business Connect


  • Conducts periodic meetings with Business/Site leaders to create awareness, understand concerns, and documents the resulting discussions and action points and ensure effective closure.
  • Provides support to business units in enhancing program sustainability & maturity by providing procedural training on HSE requirements and conducting periodic HSE assessments.

Strategizing & Planning 


  • Assistance to HSE Lead in review of overall program implementation, design of “Operating Procedures”, Emergency Response Plans, Management Action Plan, etc.,

Execution Impact 


  • Ensuring that all identified HSE projects are implemented in accordance with the Corporate and HTS HSE Policies and Procedures and industry best practices where applicable.
  • Participate in conducting Site HSE audits and inspections.
  • Provide advice and whenever necessary hands on support to the HSE Champions, vendors in such activities as Job Hazard Analysis, Risk Assessment, environmental monitoring and Incident Investigation and analysis.
  • Participate in Incident Investigations and advice to HSE Champions in compiling an accurate report with recommendations. 
  • Ensures Monthly Updation of HSE metrics in corporate tool, periodic checking of all HSE checklist and closing of HSE issues
  • Ensures periodic servicing of all physical assets checking of work permits on periodic basis at the site 
  • Follows event reporting procedure and event investigations, checks any work related injuries reports and ensures closure of corrective action
  • Conducts waste disposal verification and necessary approvals, ensures calibration of portable instruments and returns submissions.
  •  Conducts review of all fire protection system modification with GRC team and coordinate periodic audits and monitor effective closure.
  • Conducts hazardous waste disposal site inspection/audit in line with program requirement

  • Prepares budgets in accordance to the Annual Operating plans and ensures budget controls and monitoring
  • Considering ways for continuous improvement of HSE performance and best HSE practices in the site

People 


  • Ensures regular site walkthrough with facility & administration team and will participate in GEMBA meetings.
  • Conducts regular trainings as per the pre-planned schedule and ensures HSE induction training for new joiners 
  • Collaborates with logistic team for invoice and gate pass preparation for Disposal of hazardous waste & E-waste as and when it generates
  • Ensures Vendor Management, monitors delivery as per the desired standards and timely releasing of purchase orders etc
  • Provides guidance to HSE champions on HSE elements and procedures, diverse safety issues relating to all aspects of all construction, equipment/plant and safe systems of work

  • Drives a culture of excellence and relentless improvement through consistent practices such as Leader Standard Work (LSW), Knowledge Management, Value Stream Mapping, Visual Management and Rapid Problem Solving (RPS) to maximize operational efficiencies.

Additional minimum critical competencies for the role


  • Should have good understanding, knowledge and experience of driving Environment, Health and Safety programs across different sites. 
  • Should be able to liaise with regulatory agency on need basis for ensuring compliance and securing necessary permits and statutory clearances related to HSE.

Qualifications:

Knowledge & Experience.


  • Minimum BE in Environmental Engineering, Fire Safety Engineering, Industrial Safety Engineering, or Chemical engineer from a recognized institute.
  •  Must have worked for at least 5 years in reputed organization in similar role.
