Job description

If you are an Application Developer with strong Node.js backend and React frontend skills, this role offers the opportunity to build and maintain mobile-friendly, Progressive Web Applications (PWA) that power custom enterprise tools for Emerson's Lifecycle Services business. You will design Node.js-based REST API services, deliver React front-end interfaces optimized for mobile and desktop users, and build offline-capable PWA experiences backed by MongoDB, enabling field teams and business users to access critical applications from any device, anywhere.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Build and maintain full-stack web applications using React.js (frontend) and Node.js with Express.js or NestJS (backend), delivering mobile-friendly experiences for Emerson's custom enterprise tools.
  • Implement Progressive Web App (PWA) capabilities, including service workers, web app manifests, offline-first caching strategies, push notifications, and installability, ensuring reliable performance across devices and network conditions.
  • Build and maintain RESTful APIs in Node.js that serve both web and mobile-optimized clients, design endpoints with mobile payload efficiency and performance in mind.
  • Design and maintain MongoDB collections, schemas, and queries supporting custom application data models, while applying NoSQL data modeling best practices.
  • Build reusable React components with state management (Redux or Context API), responsive layouts, and touch-friendly interactions suited for mobile and tablet users.
  • Integrate frontend applications with REST APIs and third-party enterprise services, including API authentication, error states, and offline fallback.
  • Apply the full SDLC across the Mobile Apps Program area, including design, development, testing, deployment, and production support.
  • Debug and troubleshoot issues across Node.js, MongoDB, and React/PWA layers, identify root causes, and implement durable fixes.
  • Participate actively in code reviews and Agile ceremonies, and collaborate with Product Owners, System Analysts, and QA to deliver high-quality solutions on time.

Who You Are:

You readily take on new challenges and display a can-do attitude in good and difficult times. You act with a clear sense of ownership and take personal responsibility for decisions, actions, and failures. You effectively communicate in various settings and provide timely, helpful information to individuals across the organization. You partner with others to get work done and create teamwork that allows the organization to achieve shared objectives. You are curious and eager to learn, and you seek feedback, grow from it, and continuously improve your craft.

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in full-stack web development with hands-on delivery in Node.js and React.
  • Solid experience building REST API services with Node.js using Express.js or NestJS, including routing, middleware, authentication (JWT/OAuth2), and API versioning.
  • Strong proficiency in React, including component design, hooks, state management (Redux or Context API), and building responsive, mobile-optimized interfaces with modern JavaScript (ES6+).
  • Hands-on experience implementing PWA features: service workers, web app manifest, offline caching strategies (Cache API, Workbox), push notifications, and app installability.
  • Experience designing and delivering web applications that perform well on mobile and tablet devices, such as touch interactions, responsive layouts, performance optimization for mobile networks, and testing across device sizes.
  • Working experience with MongoDB, including document design, CRUD operations, indexing, and aggregation pipelines.
  • Experience building and consuming REST APIs, understanding of HTTP methods, JSON payloads, authentication patterns, and error handling.
  • Familiarity with Git, Azure DevOps or similar CI/CD tools, and sprint-based delivery, with strong English communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart

  • Experience with Workbox or similar PWA tooling for advanced service worker and caching strategies.
  • Familiarity with Web Push API and push notification infrastructure (FCM, VAPID).
  • Experience with GraphQL or WebSocket-based real-time features.
  • Knowledge of mobile web performance optimization: lazy loading, code splitting, Core Web Vitals.
  • Familiarity with Docker, Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing (Jest, Cypress, or Playwright).
  • Experience working in international, cross-time zone Agile delivery teams.
