Technical Support Engineer (PowerScale)


What you’ll achieve


As a Technical Support Engineer for Powerscale Support, you will be responsible for delivering advanced technical support and resolving complex issues related to Dell PowerScale (Isilon) storage systems. You will work with enterprise customers and cross-functional teams on high-impact storage and data management technologies, ensuring system performance, availability, and customer satisfaction.


You will:


  • Provide L1 technical support, troubleshooting hardware, software, networking, and performance issues across PowerScale (Isilon) environments.
  • Analyze logs, telemetry, and system data to identify root causes and deliver timely resolutions.
  • Act as a primary technical contact for customers, ensuring clear communication and high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Support NAS protocols (NFS, SMB/CIFS, FTP/HTTP) and features such as SyncIQ, SnapshotIQ, SmartPools, SmartQuotas, and SmartConnect.
  • Collaborate with engineering and cross-functional teams to resolve critical issues and contribute to root cause analysis and continuous improvement.

Essential Requirements


  • 2-3 years of experience in technical support or storage engineering, with hands-on exposure to NAS/storage systems.
  • Good understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, VLANs) and storage technologies (NAS, RAID, distributed file systems).
  • Experience supporting NAS protocols (NFS, SMB/CIFS) and authentication systems (Active Directory, LDAP, Kerberos).
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and customer-handling skills, with ability to work in a 24/7 support environment.

Desirable Requirements


  • German Speaker preferred.
  • Knowledge of scripting (Python, Bash) and familiarity with cloud integrations (AWS, Azure).
