As we advance through significant growth stages, we are in search of a highly experienced and strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our leadership team.
Position Overview:
As the CFO at Abwaab, you will assume a pivotal role, leveraging your extensive experience in steering startups through growth phases, particularly from Series-B onwards. This presents a thrilling opportunity for a seasoned financial leader with a strong background in operations within the MENA region, and particularly the startup space, as well as comprehensive knowledge of tax structures and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities:
Financial Strategy, Planning, and Analysis: Develop and execute comprehensive financial strategies aligned with overall business objectives. Lead financial planning, forecasting, and budgeting processes, ensuring adaptability for short and long-term goals. Provide timely and insightful financial analysis to support strategic decision-making
Financial Management: Oversee day-to-day financial operations, encompassing accounting, treasury, and tax functions, payment and working capital management, and insurance management.
Investor Relations:Manage and nurture relationships with investors and stakeholders, offering transparent and insightful financial information. Collaborate with executive leadership in fundraising activities, mergers, acquisitions, or strategic partnerships
Risk Management: Assess and mitigate financial risks, instituting robust internal controls and compliance measures. Remain vigilant regarding industry trends, economic conditions, and regulatory changes impacting the company's financial position
Financial Reporting:. Prepare regular financial reports, KPIs, and dashboards for executive leadership and the board. Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, maintaining compliance with regulatory standard
Enterprise IT: Provide strategic insights into IT cost management and optimization, ensuring efficient allocation of resources. Manage the IT infrastructure to align financial goals with technology initiatives and investments
Legal and compliance: ensure the organization's adherence to local, national, and international laws and regulations. Navigate legal frameworks, and manage contracts with stakeholders. Identify and address legal and compliance risks, fosters a culture of ethics, and engage with government agencies as needed. Develop and implement policies, conduct internal investigations, and provide strategic guidance during mergers and acquisitions.
Team Leadership: Build and lead a high-performing finance team, instilling a culture of collaboration and excellence. Mentor and develop team members, fostering their professional growth and skill development
Qualifications:
Proven track record as a CFO with extensive experience in scaling startups, ideally from Series-B onwards
Exceptional strategic thinking and analytical skills, translating financial data into actionable insights
Demonstrated success in fundraising, managing investor relations, and driving financial performance
Expertise in financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting with a deep understanding of MENA region
Knowledge of subscription based businesses, SAAS models, and possibly the Education/Edtech space is a plus
In-depth knowledge of KSA and broader MENA tax structures, compliance, and regulatory frameworks is a plus
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, influencing key stakeholders effectively
CPA, CFA, or MBA in Finance is preferred
A minimum of 10+ years of experience as a finance professional
