QHSE Officer/Engineer, Elevator Industry – Amman, Jordan



This role is exclusively available to Jordanian citizens.



Role Summary:



The Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) Officer will play a pivotal role in ensuring the highest standards of quality, health, safety, and environmental practices within the operations. Their primary responsibility will be to develop, implement, and oversee QHSE programs and initiatives to safeguard the well-being of employees, protect the environment, and uphold regulatory compliance.

Reporting Channel: Managing Director

Main Duties and Responsibilities:



• Develop, implement, and maintain robust quality management systems that align with international standards.
• Ensure operational adherence to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 policies and procedures.
• Conduct regular audits and inspections to assess adherence to quality procedures and identify areas for improvement.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement corrective and preventive actions to enhance product quality and customer satisfaction.
• Spearhead the development and implementation of comprehensive health and safety policies and procedures in line with local laws and industry best practices.
• Promote safe work activities by conducting safety audits, attending company safety meetings, and meeting with project staff members.
• Conduct thorough risk assessments and safety audits to identify potential hazards and mitigate risks in the workplace.
• Provide leadership and support in promoting a safety-conscious culture among employees through training, awareness campaigns, and regular safety meetings.
• Lead efforts to develop and implement environmentally sustainable practices and initiatives in accordance with applicable environmental regulations and standards.
• Monitor and evaluate environmental performance metrics, such as energy consumption and waste generation, and devise strategies to minimize the company’s environmental footprint.
• Work closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure compliance with environmental permits, licenses, and certifications.
• Conduct thorough investigations of workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses to identify root causes and prevent recurrence.
• Document and report all incidents promptly, ensuring compliance with regulatory reporting requirements and internal protocols.
• Collaborate with relevant departments to develop and implement corrective and preventive actions to address identified hazards and improve safety performance.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of QHSE activities, including incident reports, inspection findings, and training records.
• Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations on QHSE performance for management review, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement purposes.
• Ensure effective communication of QHSE-related information to all levels of the organization through various channels, including meetings, newsletters, and intranet portals.
• Investigate causes of accidents and/or injuries to develop solutions to minimize or prevent recurrence.
• Examine plans and specifications for new machinery or equipment to determine if all safety requirements have been included.
• Inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Monitor the exposure to occupational hazards (noise, humidity, etc.) to verify compliance with regulations.
• Coordinate training of workers concerning safety laws and regulations, first aid and use of safety equipment, devices and PPE.
• Conduct safety inductions for employee, subcontractors, and visitors prior to entering the site.

Qualifications and Skills:



• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• Certification in quality management (e.g., ISO 9001), occupational health and safety (e.g., NEBOSH), and environmental management (e.g., ISO 14001, ISO 45001) is required.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the elevator and construction industry.
• Strong knowledge of quality management systems, health and safety regulations, and environmental management principles.
• Sound understanding of OHSE system processes.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
• Advanced English language abilities both verbally and in writing.
