What You'll Do
Quality Specialist Engineer is a Software Engineering team member aligned to the Quality Practice and accountable for quality within the team, including adopting best practices. She/he will have a strong quality mindset and aims to improve skillset in Quality across all team members.
Senior Quality Specialists come together to review solutions and approaches in quality improvements. They share the initiatives they lead, and their challenges faced with the Group Quality Lead.
This role is well suited to someone with strong collaboration skills and attention to detail who enjoys working in a team to achieve common goals, and thrives working in a dynamic, fast moving and challenging (and somewhat ambiguous) environment, where they can pick up skills and learn on the job and through others.
What You Know
A Minimum of 6 years experience in MySQL with 1+ Years on RDS preferred.
Knowledge of de-facto standards and best practices in MySQL preferably on RDS.
Profile server resource usage, optimize and tweak as necessary.
Ensure performance, security, and availability of databases.
Ability to plan resource requirements from high level specifications.
Unix shell scripting and the ability to automate routine tasks.
Proficient in writing and optimizing SQL statements.
Experience with replication configuration in MySQL.
Maintain database design/release documentation.
Must be ready to support environments remotely while on on-call.
Troubleshoot and resolve production database issues.
Ensuring proper back up of database is adequate and able to be recovered in the event of memory loss.
Maintaining an awareness of trends and developments in database administration.
Familiarity with monitoring tools and how to apply to DB environment.
ETL / data migration experience with large data sets.
Education
BS in Computer Science or related fields; MS preferred
