About the role


The role involves leading the global screening of cargo for sanctions and dual-use goods and involves making important decisions regarding export and import. You will be responsible for conducting specialized risk-based assessments and analysis based on the screening outcomes for sanctions and dual-use goods as well as provide support to network stations on a 24x7 basis, answering questions and handling escalations related to the cargo sanctions compliance program. Furthermore, you will ensure that daily operations remain safe and compliant, and any issues are escalated to relevant management personnel as per the escalation matrix.


As part of your role, your additional responsibilities will include, but not limited to, the following:


  • Comply with global sanctions and dual-use goods regulations through cargo screening and remediation according to business requirements.
  • Ensure prompt and timely response to emails and calls, effectively investigate issues, analyse, authorize or provide solutions for uninterrupted cargo operations on a 24/7 basis.
  • Provide specialized and expert operational/compliance solutions on a 24x7 basis to facilitate seamless operations.
  • Log, investigate and provide response to the sanctions and dual-use goods compliance queries from Doha or network stations within the set timelines.
  • Follow the defined escalation matrix depending on the complexity and potential operational risks associated with the situation.
  • In case of aircraft accidents / incidents in Doha or in the network provide support to the Cargo Emergency Support Center.
  • Support the Cargo Sanctions and Crisis Manager with the development of the processes and procedures required to standardize and streamline import and export procedures across the business unit and facilitate the compliance of import and export activities relating to the business in accordance with all national and international regulations and controls.
Qualifications

About you


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with at least 4 years of job-related experience, Certified as Sanctions Specialist/Export Controls or similar certification is desirable
  • Strong knowledge of global sanctions and export control issues as well as dual-use commodities compliance, knowledge of air cargo industry with awareness of special cargo loads and CIQ are preferred
  • Understanding of compliance reporting, investigations and root cause analysis
  • Data driven with advanced MS Office skills as well as strong quantitative and analytical skills
  • Excellent spoken and written English skills with strong persuasion and influencing capabilities, ability to speak other foreign languages is an advantage
  • Ability to work with cross- functional teams, in a faced- paced working environment
