Job Description of Maintenance Support Electrical Engineers

Job Purpose:
To provide technical/ engineering supports to Maintenance, Operations and Supply departments in order to carry out improvement of reliability, costs, efficiency, optimization of maintenance execution, failure and troubleshooting investigations.
Required Qualification and Experience:
Bachelor in Engineering (Electrical) from a recognized university with minimum 10 years of experience in similar responsibility in oil and gas or petrochemical environment related to Engineering, Plant construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning and startup of the plants.
Reporting and Relationships:
 
  • Works with other Obsolescence & LCM Engineers, RCM Engineers and Reliability Engineers. Liaise with Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, Supply and other supporting departments and has to contact with vendors and equipment manufacturers to obtain information and as required.
  • Works independently on broad assignments with professional engineering principles and standards covering all areas of the onshore plant, storage and terminal facilities and support to offshore.

Job Context & Major Challenge(s):
 
  • Works independently on broad assignments related to his discipline guided by Company objectives and professional engineering standards covering onshore and offshore plant facilities.
  • Defining expectation for ensuring that all plant and equipment are maintained for high reliability, in optimum operating condition and that the value of Company assets is protected and enhanced.
  • Reviewing and setting standards and expectations of maintenance activities to achieve maximum production reliability and availability.
  • Work covers all areas of the onshore plant, storage and terminal facilities and some support to offshore. Much of the work involves close collaboration with Operation, Process, Supply and other Engineering divisions.

Key Job Accountabilities:
  • Review RSPLs (Recommended Spare Parts list) and recommend spare parts for all new projects.
  • Review stock that has passed shelf life still held in the stock and recommend to replenish or scrap as necessary.
  • Reviews and recommends max / min spare parts level for non-moving, obsolete, surplus, spares and consolidate and updates the files on a continuous basis.
  • Review capital spares status and provides recommendations for preservation and upkeep.
  • Review and approve Electrical Maintenance Strategies and Purchase Requisition of materials (TBE – Technical Bid Evaluation).
 
  • Carry out engineering feasibility study (eMOC) in coordination with required disciplines and develop mitigation solution for Obsolescence Management.
  • Exposure to Obsolescence Management for equipment and Spares will be an advantage.
  • Review of all Electrical Master Data Governance (MDG) studies (Material creation, change, deletion and obsolescence) through SAP.

Discipline Expertise:
 
  1. Specialist in Electrical system & a working knowledge of appropriate international standards such as IEC, IEEE, BS, NFPA  etc.
  2. In-depth knowledge in Hazardous area classified equipment for electrical & instrument application
  3. Electrical Engineering domain knowledge for below Equipment/systems
    • Transformers
    • Motors/generators
    • Switchgear/GIS
    • Protection relays
    • ELICS
    • UPS and Battery chargers
    • VVVF drives
    • HVAC
    • Power generation
    • ICCP
 
  1. At least 10 years working experience with the majority experience gained in the oil and gas industry.
  2. Computer literate with knowledge of SAP and commonly used Microsoft business software packages.
