Job Description – QA/QC Engineer
Department
Operations / Engineering Support / Projects Job Purpose
Provide expertise and support for QA/QC implementation across engineering, design, procurement, construction, and installation activities for new equipment and modifications to onshore/offshore facilities. Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, specifications, and company policies. Reporting & Relationships
  • Reports to: Head of Engineering / Functional Manager
  • Internal stakeholders:
    • Operations Team
    • Project Management Team
    • Engineering & HSE Departments
  • External stakeholders:
    • EPC contractors
    • Vendor & suppliers
    • Third-party inspection agencies
    • Engineering consultants
Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate QA/QC activities of inspectors, engineers, and NDT technicians in line with project and maintenance requirements
  • Support procurement activities by reviewing requisitions, specifications, and inspection requirements
  • Review and analyse:
    • Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS)
    • Procedure Qualification Records (PQR)
    • QA/QC reports and inspection records
  • Ensure material quality from procurement stage through to final receipt
  • Conduct metallurgical and failure analysis on equipment and components
  • Participate in:
    • Startup readiness activities
    • Risk assessments (FRA)
    • Management of Change (MOC)
    • Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA)
  • Provide QA/QC input into maintenance contracts, scope of work (SOW), and technical bid evaluations
  • Conduct and support supplier and contractor audits on quality management systems
  • Ensure compliance with QA/QC procedures during repairs, shutdowns, and modifications
  • Support inspection and certification activities for equipment such as:
    • Gas cylinders
    • Lifting equipment
    • Portable tanks
  • Promote quality awareness through training, knowledge sharing, and procedural guidance
  • Assist in development and updates of QA/QC procedures and standards
Job Challenges
  • Providing technical judgment on equipment repair, failure, and modifications
  • Ensuring quality control across multiple project phases and stakeholders
  • Balancing operational urgency with quality and compliance requirements
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
  • Certifications in QA/QC, Welding, NDT, Inspection, or Auditing (preferred)
Experience
  • Minimum 4+ years of QA/QC experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, or heavy industrial projects
  • Experience across:
    • Engineering and design
    • Procurement and vendor inspection
    • Fabrication and installation
    • Welding and NDT practices
Technical Skills
  • Strong knowledge of QA/QC standards and codes
  • Understanding of welding, metallurgy, and inspection techniques
  • Ability to review technical documents and inspection reports
  • Data analysis and reporting capability
  • Proficiency in MS Office and QA/QC systems
