The Telecom Engineer is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, testing, commissioning, and supporting industrial telecommunication systems across Oil & Gas facilities. The role ensures reliable operation of communication networks and telecom infrastructure while supporting plant operations and maintaining compliance with company standards and HSE requirements.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive, predictive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance of telecom systems.
- Install, configure, test, troubleshoot, and commission telecom equipment.
- Maintain fiber optic networks, structured cabling systems, and communication infrastructure.
- Support industrial communication systems including LAN/WAN networks, radio communication systems, telephony, CCTV, PA/GA, and access control systems.
- Perform testing and fault diagnosis of telecom equipment and communication networks.
- Read and interpret telecom drawings, cable schedules, network diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Coordinate with engineering, operations, maintenance, and project teams during shutdowns and new installations.
- Maintain documentation of maintenance activities, inspections, and testing records.
- Ensure compliance with PTW, LOTO, and HSE procedures.
- Support system upgrades, modifications, and commissioning activities.
- Monitor system performance and recommend improvements for reliability and operational efficiency.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
RequirementsBachelor's Degree or Diploma in Telecommunications, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
Minimum 10 years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry.
Hands-on experience in telecom systems and communication infrastructure within Oil & Gas facilities.
Experience with fiber optic systems, structured cabling, LAN/WAN networks, CCTV, PA/GA, radio communication, and telephone systems.
Knowledge of telecom testing equipment and fault diagnosis.
Ability to interpret telecom drawings, network diagrams, and technical documentation.
Familiarity with industrial communication protocols and networking principles.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
Knowledge of PTW, LOTO, and HSE procedures.
Experience in shutdown, commissioning, and brownfield projects is preferred.
