The Middle East and North Africa has a booming and competitive market, in which many talented professionals are constantly on the hunt for the next big opportunity. The question of job availability and requirements across the region and different industries matters to all professionals. Using a respondent pool of employers across the region, the Bayt.com Job Index identifies which countries and industries are looking to hire in the next three months as well as those looking to hire in the next year. The report also provides insights on the most sought after skills and educational qualifications in candidates. Additionally, the survey provides an estimate of how many jobs exactly employers expect to be hiring for. Key Findings

  • 9 in10 Companies in the Middle East Will Be Hiring in the Next12 Months
  • Small/medium local companies in the private sector have the highest hiring potential in the next three months, with76% of them saying they will be hiring.
  • More than four in five working respondents (81%) claim that their company has ‘hired new employees in the last12 months
  • Good ‘communication skills in Arabic and English’ emerged as the top skill that employers look for in a candidate, according to68% of employers.
  • Business management’ (30%) and ‘commerce’ (26%) emerged as two of the most sought-after qualifications amongst employers.
  • Nearly four in10 (38%) employers claim that they are looking for candidates with ‘managerial skills’. Data for the February2018 Middle East Job Index Survey was collected online from5th December2017 to28th January2018. Results are based on a sample of1,883 respondents,1,641 of whom were of working status, from the following countries: UAE, KSA, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Palestine, Syria, Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Sudan, and Pakistan.
