The Bayt.com Middle East Job Index 2018

Hiring intentions and the market demand and supply are often indications of our economic situations. Which countries, sectors, and industries are hiring the most? What career levels have the highest opportunities within the upcoming months? Bayt.com surveyed thousands of employers to measure their hiring activities and to understand their hiring needs, skills and experiences they will be looking for in job candidates. Find out the answers below.

Key findings:

 

  • Nearly9 in10 employers are planning to hire within a year (87%).
  • More than5 in10 working respondents claim that their company has hired new employees in the last6 months, with55% having hired new employees in the last3 months
  • 61% of the GCC residents believe that their country of residence is more attractive than other countries.
  • Good communication skills in Arabic and English (69%) emerge as the top skill that employers look for in a candidate.
  • The majority of companies will be hiring junior and mid-career positions, with maximum requirement emerging for Junior Executive (45%) across regions

 

Data for the August2018 Middle East Job Index Survey was collected online from31st May2018 to31st July2018. Results are based on a sample of1,709 respondents,1,505 of whom were of working status, from the following countries: UAE, KSA, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Palestine, Syria, Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Sudan, and Pakistan.
