Role Purpose

NEOM Tech and Digital is looking for a seasoned Lead Architect Transmission Network to provide strong technical, programmatic and business leadership in all aspects of our NEOM Connect business.  NEOM is developing connectivity infrastructure for powering the cognitive city. 

The Connect Business Unit provides communications infrastructure covering fabric across NEOM, access networks within regions and the edge. A key aspect to NEOM’s vision is environmental sustainability and this needs to be fundamental in the delivery of the compute solutions. The connect solutions need to be able support retail service providers and networks services providers. The connect business operates  as a Carrier Neutral Network provider.

The successful candidate will come from telecommunications with greenfield experience and have the technical experience and business acumen to design and scale the foundational network fabric. Based in Saudi Arabia, Corporate HQ, the new Lead architect Networks will be reporting directly to the Head of connect.

The lead architect needs to be a passionate and visionary technologist in the domain of Fixed Networks who finds innovative ways and solutions to architect the communications infrastructure support the future of NEOM. Deep domain expertise of Network Fabric covering: Optical Transport / Network Modelling, DWDM, OTN, Software Define Networking Solutions (SDN)  and automation for services provisioning.  The successful candidate should have a strong understanding of these capabilities required to enable and drive this forward. A string understanding of operational technology networks and the requirements for FTTx to support Edge based solutions is required.

NEOM is looking for an experienced network architect with strategic thinking are essential in this role to manage and monitor technical design. Provide oversight guidance to our PMO and engineering teams and consultancies on the delivery of the defined architecture. They are expected to be well-versed in current networking and telecommunication trends. An understanding of the implications of regulatory and industry requirements for data handling is required. Must be strong communicator to evangelize what they are doing and why.

The Lead Architect Transmission Network must be an agile thinker with solid credentials in network strategy, design, and innovation. The successful candidate needs to have an emerging technology vision and strong grasp of how technology can amplify the business. The new Lead Architect Network Fabric will be expected to lead a transformative role and bring the business to the next level.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & ACTIVITIES

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for providing architectural leadership and direction in domain of fixed Networks to the NEOM business through the technology team to ensure end to end performance of all Connect platforms and solutions
• Deliver architecture services covering domains of : Optical Transport / Network Modelling, DWDM, OTN, Software Define Networking Solutions (SDN)  and automation for services provisioning. 
• Develop fixed network architectures at a region, asset and building level. Covering Dark fiber to FTTx. Understand and define requirements for access networks.
• Develop architecture templates for solution delivery across NEOM based on different categories of entities and assets.
• Ability establish architectural models working with other utility providers such as power and water for sharing of network assets.
• Owning Network Fabric architectural solution  in line with best practice technology measures and group guidelines. Functions include strategic architecture and delivery of the required technology and solutions execute the Connect vision.
• Playing a key technical leadership role in the Neom Connect business and contributing to the overall business strategy both locally and globally.

Strategic Planning:

• Developing and executing the Fixed Network architecture for NEOM
• Developing new technology and architectures for Fixed Network across technology domains of fiber, microwave, space and subsea cables.
• Establish the roadmap for deployment of required components for delivering Fixed Network architecture
• Determining and managing all aspects of planning, designing, building and operating fixed Network.

Solution Development and Delivery:

• Serving as the technical expert representative across teams responsible for delivery of fixed Network solutions.
