RAS/Water engineer

Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced RAS and Wastewater Treatment Engineer. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing, operating, and overseeing our recirculating aquaculture systems and wastewater treatment facilities.

The Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS) and Water Engineer will utilize their extensive experience in water treatment to oversee operations, manage compliance, and implement process improvements. They will collaborate with professionals on system design and maintenance, provide technical guidance to staff, and prepare detailed reports. The RAS and Wastewater Treatment Engineer's role is not just about engineering—it's about making a real-world impact by managing the state of the aquaculture systems in NEOM. Their expertise will be crucial in creating a cost-effective system able to grow finfish, following high standards in animal welfare and animal protein production, creating sustainable water treatment solutions, contributing significantly to a healthier, more sustainable planet.

Position description and responsibilities

• Oversee the design, operation, and maintenance of recirculating aquaculture systems in order to achieve max productivity and expected financial outcomes, project’s IRR.
• Manage all aspects of wastewater treatment facilities and waste disposal.
• Develop and implement process improvements for water treatment.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Collaborate with other engineers and professionals on system design and installation projects.
• Conduct regular inspections and audits of systems to ensure optimal operation.
• Coordinate with suppliers and vendors for equipment procurement and maintenance.
• Provide technical guidance and training to operational staff.
• Plan monitoring programs and oversee the collection of water samples for analysis.
• Prepare detailed reports on system performance and improvements.
• Implement safety procedures and guidelines in all operations.
• Perform troubleshooting and resolve issues related to water treatment systems.

Knowledge and Experience

• Extensive experience in design, managing and operating recirculating aquaculture systems.
• Proven track record in wastewater treatment engineering.
• Proficient in the use of water treatment technology and equipment.
• Strong understanding of local, state, and federal regulations related to water treatment.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
• Strong project management and organizational skills.
• Experience in training and guiding operational staff.
• Proficiency in preparing detailed technical reports.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong knowledge of safety procedures and guidelines in water treatment operations.
• Fluent in English and Arabic.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 10 years of experience in wastewater or water treatment systems.
• Proven experience in managing recirculating aquaculture systems.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of water chemistry and biological processes related to aquaculture and wastewater treatment.
• Familiarity with the latest technology and equipment in water treatment.
• Proficiency in using computer applications and software for system design and operation.
• Postgraduate qualification in a related field would be highly advantageous.
