Job Description

Al Borg Diagnostics, a leading provider of diagnostic health services, is seeking a skilled and efficient Triage Officer to join our team. As a Triage Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that patients receive the appropriate level of care and attention based on their medical conditions and needs.


Your main responsibilities will include evaluating and prioritizing patient requests, assessing symptoms and medical history, and directing patients to the appropriate healthcare professionals or services.

Responsibilities:


  • The Triage Officer will be part of a care coordination team supporting general care processes alongside the providers.
  • Manage patient telephone calls requesting health care services.
  • Evaluate and assess the patient’s health care needs based on the patient’s signs and symptoms utilizing established triage protocols and guidelines.
  • Obtain appropriate input and direction from the provider as needed to determine the best clinical course of action and recommendations for specific patient health care needs.
  • Accurately document symptoms/complaints, triage assessment, the advice provided, and patient/caller response.
  • Collect the accurate details of the patients and enter them into the software correctly.
  • Arrange the consultations and other needed services as per the requirement of patients.
  • Follow policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure consistency and departmental effectiveness as well as improve health care outcomes of patients/callers and their access to appropriate health care.
  • Utilize standing orders, triage protocols, and algorithms appropriately.
  • Monitor patient flow in the system; ensure that patients receive all recommended services in a timely manner.
  • Ensure the payment collection for all consultations and other payable services.
  • Manage prescription refills per protocol.
  • Provide patient education: e.g. chronic disease, preventive, and family
  • Assure that pertinent medical information is forwarded to proper departments as needed for continuity of patient care.
  • Document in electronic health record (EHR), triage assessment, plan, implementation, and evaluation, follow-up.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the Medical Director
